27w ago - Recently PlayStation Vita hacker SKFU acquired a PS Vita PDEL-1001 DevKit, and has made available details on the common application EBOOT paths alongside some theories on vulnerabilities via wololo as outlined below.

To quote: Following up to the news on SKFU (below), some additional information has been discovered with what could be the very first public glimpse at a developer model PlayStation Vita.

If you just currently read Wololo’s article about SKFU and his progress on Vita hacking then you would know there wasn’t a lot of confirmation on things, until now. It appears that SKFU has successfully got his hands on a PlayStation Dev Kit, and that might be how he made progress on his hacking research.

After some extensive research it was discovered (thanks to reader Maccle!) that he does indeed have a dev kit. SKFU posted a thread over at Assembler Games (assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?42700-PS-VITA-DevKit) trying to sell his dev kit for unknown reasons, however, giving out some surprising information.

70w ago - Since reporting on his last flaw uncovered, PlayStation Vita hacker SKFU has found a few new vulnerabilities in Sony's PS Vita handheld gaming system.

To quote via wololo: Few hours ago, developer SKFU (known for his work on the PS3, but also recently for some investigations on the Vita security) posted a screenshot of his Vita showing some HTML in what is supposed to usually show official messages from Sony’s updates or packages.

Knowing SKFU's passion for everything network-related, I'm assuming he's doing some tests using some local DNS changes... or maybe he managed to put some of his own files in an official package? That would be exciting.

In previous tweets this week, he mentioned he found 2 potentially usable vulnerabilities on the Vita

VITA is back to life, since last tweet found 2 new possibile vulnerabilities. If it runs good, news in blog this evening!

That was, however, 2 days ago, and his blog wasn’t updated since then, so I’m assuming he ran into a few issues. (the “back to life” comment refers to the official...

73w ago - Following up on his previous update, today PlayStation Vita hacker SKFU reports that he may have uncovered a PS Vita encryption flaw.

To quote from his page: Since I finally have access to a retail PS VITA, today I started with some basic tests.

After a complete freeze of the system within the first 5 minutes after unboxing (*always happens to new consoles 4 me rofl*), I went on and noticed that there is a problem with the VITA's encryption functions and was able to decrypt some test files directly via the system.
