New Raiden Shoot-em-Up Coming 2015, Raiden IV Stick Compatible

100°
24w ago - UFO Interactive's Alex Lotz announced that a new Raiden shoot-em-pp video game is coming to PS3 in 2015 and confirmed it is Raiden IV Stick compatible.

Below are the details, to quote: Japanese developer MOSS recently announced that the next game in the Raiden series will be arriving in 2015. Until that game arrives, the latest in the series - Raiden IV: OverKill - is exclusively available on PlayStation Store for PS3.

Those fighting for a spot on the high score list, which also posts a replay of their session for the world to see, are standing a better chance with their chosen hardware thanks to the new arcade stick [Register or Login to view links].

Playing Raiden IV: OverKill is a brutally instructive experience. Like Tom Cruise's character in Edge of Tomorrow, you can expect to die countless times as you learn the patterns of your enemies. But once you've put in the work it takes just to survive the game's onslaught, it dares you to take more risks by rewarding you for breaking up your natural movement patterns.

In the game's OverKill mode, certain defeated enemies linger on screen in a slow crashing animation. Pumping these wrecks full of lasers, protons, and missiles charges...

Video: Futuridium EP Deluxe: A Psychedelic New PS Vita Shoot 'em Up

44w ago - MixedBag Cofounder Mauro Fanelli shared a video and some audio tracks today from Futuridium EP Deluxe: a Psychedelic new PS Vita Shoot 'em Up below!

To quote: Hi readers! I'm Mauro Fanelli, cofounder of the two person italian indie studio [Register or Login to view links], and I'm super excited to be here today to announce that our first game, Futuridium EP, is coming to PS Vita in an all new, enhanced, expanded, turbo charged edition titled Futuridium EP Deluxe.

We started working on Futuridium as a side project with the idea of paying an homage to the retro classic [Register or Login to view links], a 2D top-down shoot'em up by Andrew Braybrook (and one of our favorite Commodore 64 game from the 80s), with a total reinvention aimed to mix its fast paced action and the unique feeling of flying back and forth on enormous space dreadnoughts with full 3D gameplay and a retro, flat shaded look with tons of glitchy graphic effects.

We put together a prototype of the game with the basic game mechanics in place and... it worked! That's not always guaranteed in game development, so we continued to build on the formula, polish, play, rebalance, play a lot more, and, when we were presented with the opportunity to bring the game to PS Vita we were like... ok, it's a...

Sony on 5 Reasons Shoot Many Robots is Better with Friends

100°
145w ago - Today Lead Designer Josh Glavine has shared 5 reasons Shoot Many Robots is better with friends via Sony's PlayStation Blog.

To quote: Available tomorrow on PSN, Shoot Many Robots is an action game with a twist:

You can play with up to four people cooperatively online. If you don't already have an excuse to make three friends and kill some robots, we've provided five:

It's a simple formula. As you add more players to Shoot Many Robots, you'll encounter more robots, more explosions, and more chaos. Playing with co-op partners increases the number of robots in each level which means more things to kill... and more ways to kill them.

And more dead robots means more Nut pickups, which enable you to buy new guns and gear. All of the randomly dropping items like powerups and loot also drop more frequently. In co-op, everything is just more fun.

Co-opetition

At the end of each mission, the players with the highest kill counts are rewarded with more Nuts. This means you must work cooperatively to complete a mission, while also competing for the most kills - hence, "co-opetition."

Pick-Me-Ups

In co-op, you can revive your partners if they are downed. Having squadmates...
