282w ago - Today Atlus' Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona PSP will be launching simultaneously via retail and PSN on September 22, 2009.

To quote: When the game releases on September 22nd, it will launch simultaneously at retail and via the PlayStation Network, meaning that folks who decide to pick up a PSPgo in October and/or people who prefer to own the game digitally can have their JRPG fix their way.

Exclusive to the UMD-version of the game is the inclusion of the game's full 2-CD soundtrack, courtesy of acclaimed composer Shoji Meguro, at no additional cost to you. The two discs are bundled along with the game in a charming oversized outer box.

This offer is limited to retail launch copies, so as long as you pre-order or snag a copy early you're guaranteed to have some awesome music to listen to when you're not playing the game. Consider it our way of saying thanks to our customers and retail partners for years of support.

Just in case some of you have never heard of [Register or Login to view links] or Persona, here's a lovely little description of the game ripped straight from our press release (yes, that's right, I just copied and pasted):

"Lauded for its mature and philosophical narrative,...

Review: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 for PlayStation 2

314w ago - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is the latest installment in the SMT series. SMT: Persona 3 was one of the best RPGs last year and Atlus' breakthrough title that got them the recognition they deserved, winning many new fans.

Many were excited about Persona 4's release date announcement, but many were also worried about the game being released this soon making them think it would've been rushed. In many interviews throughout the year, Atlus has been touting Persona 4 as an epic RPG, and they were right about that. But just how epic is Persona 4?

The game starts off with the main protagonist being summoned into the Velvet Room. In here, you are given the choice to name the main protagonist. Igor, the person who runs the Velvet Room, and his assistant informs the main protagonist that he will face a great tragedy and mystery, and it will be his mission to "seek out the truth" for the mystery. If he doesn't fulfill his mission, his future will be lost.

After waking up and leaving the Velvet Room, the main protagonist finally arrives in Inaba in which he will be staying with his uncle and cousin for a year due to his parents having to work overseas for a year. Shortly after his stay in Inaba, a mysterious murder occurs, and there are no clues or suspects.

This lone murder...

Review: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 for PlayStation 2

316w ago - If you're an RPG fan, you can't help but admit that Atlus is on a serious roll when it comes to fantastic gaming experiences on the PlayStation 2.

Last year, Atlus released Persona 3, which was an excellent RPG revolving around high school students, monsters known as Shadows and a mysterious time of day known as the "Dark Hour." It was an incredibly deep title, thanks to the mix of social interactions and dungeon crawling, and was one of the better games released last year.

Then, further improving on Persona 3, Atlus released Persona 3: FES earlier this year, a director's cut which expanded and improved the gameplay of its predecessor. There was no way that Atlus could outdo itself, right? I'm glad to say that this assumption has been proven wrong in spectacular fashion.

Somehow, Atlus has managed to take just about every single lesson that it's learned from these two titles and implement them into its latest RPG, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, which is truly an RPG classic in the making.

Eschewing the busy city life from the previous Persona games, Persona 4 is set within the sleepy countryside town of Inaba, where the protagonist of the game is sent to live with his uncle (a detective in the local police force) and his young cousin for a year....
