Video: Total Recoil Sets Its Sights on PlayStation Vita Consoles

50°
54w ago - Eiconic Games Art and Creative Director Simon Credland shared a video today announcing that Total Recoil is setting its sights on PlayStation Vita consoles.

To quote: Atten-tion recruits! This is an intel report from Si at indie developer Eiconic Games in the UK. We're glad to report that Total Recoil is making its way to PS Vita on July 9.

Download it and enjoy an explosion of arcade shoot 'em up action. There are only two rules in Total Recoil...

•Shoot everything that moves!
•Shoot everything that doesn't!

It all started when I was "busy" (with my feet up) playing Call of Duty on PS3, thinking to myself "These shoot-em-ups have come a long way since the old arcade games." So this started me wondering how a modern game would look on an arcade cabinet.

It would be top-down, the characters would have large heads, there would be wave after wave of baddies with flamethrowers, huge tanks and attack copters - and this is what you get with Total Recoil.

But developing on the PS Vita is better than an arcade machine and gives us more control than mobile and tablet games - we've made use of all the PS Vita's controls. You use the left stick to move, the right stick to shoot and strafe. When you fire a missile you can trace its path...

Apparently Sony Taiwan gave away 150 of these special commemorative launch sets (pictured below) to 150 individuals who bought the PS3 Slim at launch.

To quote: "No, they didn't get those guys. Who wants stuffy businessmen when you can get other stuff? That's right other stuff.

Included in the bundle were one DualShock 3, one PS3 t-shirt, a limited edition PSN Card with 500 TWD and a limited edition USB card reader.

See? Much better than getting Sony execs."

Pretty cool indeed, although getting the Sony execs could have also been rewarding too.

PS3 EBOOT.BIN ELF Memory Offsets Mapped for Debug Consoles

50°
279w ago - This was posted 2 days ago (working thread) in the PlayStation 3 Dev News Forum courtesy of XVISTAMAN2005 with assistance from idone, and is handy for PS3 Debug console owners in rebuilding decrypted ELF's from a SELF launched into memory.

To quote: Well this took some time but we have it sorted out, CJPC posted a while back ago that an eboot.bin had been decypted from memory. The bad thing about this is that it is verry difficult to figure out how the file was before it was loaded and to put it back to an executalbe file.

Well after HRS and sleepless nights this has been sorted and put in an easy to do map. The following is an example of the the file location offsets located in the elf header. Based on this the file can be rebuilt in a matter of mins.

NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF HOW IT COULD BE DONE THE MEMORY OFFFSET LOACTIONS CAN CHANGE A BIT FROM FILE TO FILE SO ONE WOULD HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK THERE MEM DUMP FOR SECTIONS IF THE OFFSET TABLE DOES NOT MATCH UP BUT THIS MAP WAS USED ON 3 DIFFERNT EBOOT.BIN'S SO...
