Note: There are spoilers about Resistance 2's story and ending contained within this rumor.
Resistance 3 rumors are already surfacing on the Internet. Apparently, the follow up will be announced in February 2009 along with the first bunch of screens and solid details on the game with a view to the game being released November 10th exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
To quote: Today I’ve received news on a new rumor, this time about Resistance 3, yes you heard me right, RESISTANCE 3. I know that Resistance 2 has just been released in UK/Europe today and this may seem premature, but this news comes from the same person who gave me the rumor on the MGS4 Expansion Pack, which became a hot topic of discussion.
This rumor suggests that SCEA and Insomniac Games will officially announce Resistance 3 in February 2009 along with the first collection of screenshots and the first details of the game, the rumor also suggests that you will play as Cappe... More »
With Call of Duty: World at War the all in all fifth title of the series has been released. Lets take a look behind the scenes of the CoD series that has dominated the sales charts since 2003.
The original and thus first part of Call of Duty was released in late 2003 and utilized an engine that once was the basis for an id Software shooter in 1999. But back then heavily modified code enabled up-to-date graphics in extensive outdoor levels and some pixel shading for improving water surfaces.
Call of Duty 2 hit the market about two years later. The distinctive features this time: Call of Duty 2 takes place in World War II and utilizes a self developed engine that massively used DX9 features to create the possibly most realistic visualization back in 2005. Even with today's standards the game is still looking very good.
Part 3 had been for the consoles exclusively and thus the transfer to modern battlefields came to the PC in November 2007. Call of... More »

A few weeks ago, I made my way to Ubisoft's Montreal studio to interview a pair of team members working on the latest Prince of Persia, and it turned out to be one of those interviews where we kept talking longer than we probably should have.
Below is an excerpt from that interview as follows:
1UP: Were you guys disappointed when those first couple of screenshots leaked out and everyone assumed it was going to be a two-player game?
BM: [Laughs] Disappointed? No, it was to be expected, really. I think if you see two characters on the screen, some people are going to assume one of their friends can control one of those two characters. So it didn't really disappoint me to see people saying, "Oh, oh, I think this is going to be a co-op game."
But we really haven't had much negative backlash about the fact that it's single-player. I've been reading the forums, I get e-mails, I get Facebook messages and that sort of stuff, and no one ever... More »

Apparently White Knight has been kept heavily under the wraps in spite of the persistent fans outcries for more footage and/or screenshots.
Even during TGS 2008 (where we all believed we'd finally get to see some serious footage) everything was more or less cloak and dagger.
During TGS though, certain visitors to the White Knight Chronicles booth received a card that allowed them to download and watch a special 14-minute video of the game featuring some in-studio footage, in-game footage, and a pretty awesome transformation into the White Knight.
That video is now available below, courtesy of Joystiq. Enjoy!
The question is, do game companies sell less games because they offer a beta or a demo?
In an interview with GamePro magazine, Gears of War head-honcho Cliff Bleszinski said the following: "Once you play a BETA, you can check it off your list - you can say, yeah, I played it."
So, what Cliff seems to be saying is that they will not sell as many games to the public if they offer a beta/demo. Makes some sense and as the old saying goes, why buy the cow (or GOW in this case...) when the milk is free.
Of course BETAs can be looked at in a slightly different light than demos because a beta is supposed to help the devs sort out issues that they might not have found otherwise. Wide-scale testing also stresses servers and other support systems that routing in-house testing just can't do as effectively.
On the other hand, betas do provide quite a bit of insight into the final product. The gameplay will almost certainly be the same and ... More »
What’s not to like about PS3? Playing videos games, accessing PlayStation Network, intuitive firmware updates via WIFI/ LAN/Flash Media, abundance of video formats support and least but not last, most consistent and fastest loading time Blu-ray player to date.
Japanese site PhileWeb has put a 2nd generation BD recorder, a few 3rd generation Blu-Ray standalones, and the good old PS3 on test; no surprises here, PS3 once again came out on top in terms of disc loading speed.
If you have one of those older generation Blu-ray players, you know how frustrating it can be when it comes to loading BD-JAVA interactive menu. Painfully slow! The newest Sony entry level BDP-S350 and a $2,000 flagship BDP-S5000ES promise an improvement in this area, but how do the 3rd generation BD players stack up against the cell-power PS3?
Still behind... test after test PS3 has proved to be the fastest l... More »
