Wolfenstein: The New Order PlayStation 4 Hands on: Old School

50°
29w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands on today with Wolfenstein: The New Order on PlayStation 4 with what he proclaims as 'Old School' details below.

To quote: Wolfenstein: The New Order pits players against seemingly insurmountable odds in a skewed 1960′s where the Nazis conquered the world. An FPS that's old-school in all the best ways, it eschews modern niceties - no recharging shields here - in favor of merciless, finely honed shooting.

Our recent hands-on experiences with the PS4 version pointed to an invigoratingly confident single-player shooter of a distinctly different breed. Case in point: Original FPS hero B.J. Blazkowicz goes to battle with 100 health, which you'll top off by collecting medkits and gorging on food scattered throughout levels.

This traditional damage model combines with modern-day visuals, a surprisingly satisfying story, and strong character progression to create a unique and refreshing take on the genre. Old meets new, but in the best of ways.

Strider on PS4, PS3: Old-school Action, New-school Exploration

50°
30w ago - Capcom Japan Producer James Vance details Strider on PS4 and PS3 today, which features a combination of both old-school action and new-school exploration.

To quote: Hello fellow PlayStation fans! It's a pleasure to be here. My name is James Vance, and I'm the Capcom Japan producer on Strider for PS4 and PS3.

For those of you who are new to the Strider universe, please allow me to give you a quick rundown of just how awesome it is. For those of you who already know, take a moment to revel in your superior gaming knowledge, and stick around to learn what surprises the all-new Strider has in store.

Originally introduced in 1989, Strider was a seminal Capcom game starring Special-A class, indestructible cypher sword swinging, climb on virtually anything, all around coolest video game character ever, Strider Hiryu.

Strider took the gaming world by storm with its ultra-fast and responsive controls, first of its kind dynamic traversal, crazy boss characters and amazingly detailed and unique graphics that were truly in a league of their own.

The fast and frenetic arcade tradition continued some ten years later in Strider 2, but many of the younger Marvel vs. Capcom players may know Strider Hiryu best as one of the series' most respected fighters.

Fast-forward...

Video: Resogun: Old-school Shooting, New-school Tech on PS4

50°
47w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements went hands-on today and made available some video footage of old-school shooting with new-school technology in Resogun on the PS4 video gaming system!

To quote: Fire up Resogun, muffle out the world with a pair of killer headphones, and get lost in a flurry of bullets. This is the kind of shooter that demands a gamer's full attention, and it's the kind of demand worth giving in to.

Resogun, which launches alongside PS4 next month and will be included as the first Instant Game Collection title for PlayStation Plus members in North America, marries the joy of chasing high scores with cutting-edge graphics tech.

Like developer Housemarque's other downloadable games (Super Stardust HD, Super Stardust: Delta, Dead Nation), picking up the controls only takes a few minutes. Move with DualShock 4′s left analog stick, fire with the right. Your ship has a boost attack, bombs, and a devastating overdrive attack - all executed with the triggers.

But getting caught up in the pounding, explosive flow of Resogun will inevitably lead to score chasing and an almost meditative state, as bullets coat the screen and explosions churn with the thump of the music. Resogun has killer sound design, which amps up the pace of each level - the perfect...
