SCEJ Announces Resident Evil 5 Bundle for PlayStation 3

293w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has revealed a PlayStation 3 bundle for Capcom's forthcoming shooter Resident Evil 5 (or Biohazard 5), scheduled for Japanese release with the game on March 5th.

The bundle will be priced at „48,980 ($526) and will include an 80GB PlayStation 3 system branded with the Biohazard logo and text, a copy of the game, and two Dualshock 3 controllers.

Microsoft revealed yesterday that it will also offer an Xbox 360 bundle for the survival horror game in Japan, priced at „34,800 ($369) and due March 5th.

The bundle will feature a 60GB system, a 48-hour Xbox Live Gold membership trial card, a copy of Resident Evil 5, a headset, a soundtrack CD, a collector's tin case, and a code for downloading an RE5 theme.

Neither Microsoft or Sony have disclosed any plans to bring their respective system bundles to the West. Resident Evil 5 ships for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the U.S. on March 13th.
 

SCEJ: PSP Firmware 5.0 on October 15, PS Store for PSP Screens

306w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has confirmed that the PS Store for PSP will officially launch on October 15, 2008 coinciding with PSP Firmware Update 5.0.

The update will add an XMB icon which will allow users to access the PlayStation Store directly from their PSP consoles. Sony will then begin offering downloadable UMD-based titles on the same day as their retail release.

In related news, IGN has made available the first PlayStation Store for PSP screens along with a description on how you use the store.

To quote: Users will need to connect directly to PlayStation Network from PSP via Wi-Fi connection, and then register for a PlayStation Network account to access the PlayStation Store on the XMBTM (XrossMediaBar) of PSP. PlayStation Network account for PS3/ PC can also be used.
