118w ago - Today SCEE Contributing Editor Roland Fauster has shared details on Dragon's Dogma: Dragons and Unlimited Freedom on the PS3 entertainment system!
To quote: The people at Capcom should be no strangers to establishing a new IP on the market. Since the Japanese company introduced their first multi-part franchise in the mid '80s with Ghosts 'n Goblins, they have been known for establishing franchises that run for many years.
Along with such legendary titles as Street Fighter and Mega Man, this strategy has enabled them to create and develop things such as, in particular, the survival-horror genre.
However, it was interesting to meet Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi at gamescom and to watch him demonstrate Capcom's latest offering, Dragon's Dogma. What was shown on the screen in the tiny booth was neither slugfest nor survival-action title, nor a new approach for an arcade concept either.
What Capcom had announced in April, probably more out of sheer habit, as action-adventure was in fact the first open-world RPG in Capcom's 33-year history.
Indeed, with Dragon's Dogma Capcom is not abandoning their extensive expertise in action gameplay; however, the presentation at gamescom focused mainly on the most basic aspect of an...
128w ago - SCEE Content Producer Simon Bramble has revealed a Q&A today for Tomb Raider PS3 dubbed Searching for Lara Croft.
To quote: Lara Croft is returning in a completely new Tomb Raider that takes the series in a grittier new direction.
I recently caught up with Noah Hughes, creative director Crystal Dynamics, to explore this new adventure.
How does it feel to be bringing Lara back in an all-new take on the Tomb Raider series?
Noah Hughes: It's an honor to be able to not only work with Lara Croft and Tomb Raider, but also to be able to reboot the franchise. I've been at developer Crystal Dynamics for a while now, and we've had the pleasure of making a few games starring Lara. We've learned a lot. To be able to distill everything we want to do with the franchise into an entirely fresh take is inspiring.
So it's a totally new direction for the series?
NH: It is. It's a reboot and not directly related to the timeline of Lara as such, but it will touch on familiar elements of her character. You'll see her grow into the hero figure that fans know and love.
Is it going to reference the events of past games at all?
NH: It starts a whole different timeline. There's...
134w ago - SCEE's Head of Communications Nick Caplin is here today with some new details on SNEE and SCEE's Identity Theft Protection Program available now HERE, as follows:
Last week we informed you that we would be liaising with providers of identity theft protection plans following the malicious attack on PlayStation Network throughout our region.
We are now in a position to provide you with actual details of the programme for current PlayStation Network and Qriocity consumers in UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany.
As I have explained previously, identifying such programmes for the many countries within the SCEE region is a very complicated process.
Each country has a different way of handling identity theft; whilst some offer relatively sophisticated services, others may not. Therefore, we must stress that this is an ongoing process which will see new identity theft protection programmes identified where possible.
That said, we are pleased to advise that Affinion International Limited, a leader in identity protection products in Europe, will be offering a comprehensive service that covers a significant proportion of PSN users free...

162w ago - SCEE Home Community Lead Alex Weekes has announced today that the London Pub Radio is launching for PlayStation Home.
To quote: Exciting news for music lovers and owners of The London Pub this week, as tomorrow The London Pub Radio (LPR) hits the airwaves - free to all London Pub owners!
Every month LPR will be bringing you new featured bands and artists. First up from LPR are four tracks from Barney, Ben, Graham and Dan: a four-piece London-based band known as 'RedderStare'.
They describe their sounds as "analogue, live, raw and a bit messy, largely because they are all of those things". Find out more about the band here.
That's not all, though... also launching tomorrow will be the LPR website where aspiring musicians will be able to submit their own music for a chance to have their tracks played to an audience of thousands in London Pubs around the virtual world.
The LPR team will choose an artist or band to feature each month. Further details are available on the LPR website, however the most important rules to keep in mind are that submissions must be your own original music and you must not have a signed record contract or publishing deal.
