164w ago - FarSight Studios Lead Designer Bobby King has made available a PlayStation Move Brunswick Pro Bowling video as part of the ongoing PS3 Developer Diary series today.
To quote: I'm the lead designer of Brunswick Pro Bowling and undisputed bowling champion of FarSight Studios!
Well, Jeff Rice, the lead programmer of our bowling game is pretty darn good too, so he might dispute my title. More than half of our studio bowls regularly in a weekly league up here in Big Bear Lake, CA so most of us are decent bowlers and huge fans of the sport.
We are all very excited to be working with Crave and Brunswick to make the definitive bowling game.
A big part of that excitement has to do with the real world data we get from the PlayStation Move motion controller. For more details how perfect the PlayStation Move is for Brunswick Pro Bowling, check out the video below.
There are many different styles to bowling and thanks to accuracy of the PlayStation Move, we can mimic the technique of all types of throws.
Whether you throw a huge hook or toss a straight ball at rocket speed, the...
167w ago - Today ZodTTD has compiled a special version of his SNES4iPhone emulator specifically for non-jailbroken iDevices including Apple's new iPad and has shared a video of Mario Kart running on it below.
ZodTTD states that while he does have access to the iPad jailbreak, he did have to utilize official dev tools to make SNES4iPhone work on a non-jailbroken iPad.
To quote: "The build of SNES4iPhone running on my iPad as seen in the video was actually based on an AppStore app I submitted called "snesty". Apple quickly rejected it right after pulling the NES emulator.
I combined snesty with some SNES4iPhone features such as using the private API called CoreSurface. I used Apple developer tools and self signed it."
Finally, ZodTTD states that after Apple officially releases iPhone OS 4.0 and the existing jailbreak is distributed freely, he plans to create new versions of his emulators that run at the iPad's 1024 x 768 native resolution and support touchscreen controls, hardware keyboards and even external controllers should...
216w ago - Those who have their hands on the Final Fantasy XIII demo, which came bundled with the special edition Advent Children Complete, have been reporting an interesting aspect of the game.
For those who missed it, Final Fantasy XIII runs in 1080p as was also mentioned previously.
Most current generation games run in 720p, and if you have a PS3 hooked up to a 1080p TV, then in the settings you can check off all the resolutions so that the PS3 auto detects what the game wants to be output as.
If all the check boxes are selected, then a game like Uncharted will run at its native resolution of 720p, while a game like Super Stardust HD will run at 1080p.
Now that most of the technical jargon has been explained, here is what is interesting about the FF XIII demo. The PS3 chooses to run the demo at 1080p, which means that the supported resolutions for FF XIII are 480p/720p/1080i/1080p.
Having said this, just because the game supports a 1080p resolution, does not mean that it is running at a native 1080p, but rather an upscaled 720p. Metal...
237w ago - We've seen Phenom II, Deneb overclocked all the way to 6.2GHz. This was not a screenshot boot, we've seen it with our own eyes as chaps from AMD managed to run the Crysis benchmark several times. The machine was stable on almost every run.
AMD was insisting that this was a stock CPU not a cherry picked one, and that similar scores should be expected from retail products. Intel has never managed to get to over 6GHz and we are sure that Intel is doing some catching up.
You naturally need some LN2 to get to such a high scores and it looks that Phenom II might become an overclocker's favorite toy.
This is quite an achievement and with water you will get to 4GHz+, while with a good air cooler you should reach clocks around 4GHz.
