Sony's official confirmation of LocoRoco PS3 came quietly as part of a post E3 Japanese product announcement event. Today, thanks to the latest issue of Famitsu, we have a few new details on the game, which is officially known in Japan as Oiedeyo LocoRoco!! Boo Boo Cocoreccho!
Some rumors have popped up suggesting that this PS3 version of LocoRoco is actually just a fancy wallpaper program. This doesn't seem to be the case, as the game is listed in Famitsu as an action title, complete with online rankings.
There are some major differences from the PSP version. You take control this time of a butterfly, or perhaps a group of butterfiles, known as Cocoreccho. By pressing the circle button, you can make the Cocoreccho shout boo boo. This makes the sleeping LocoRoco in your area wake up and come to you. Your goal is to lead the LocoRoco to the stage's goal.
The game's title, incidentally, tells the whole story. Boo Boo is what Cocoreccho say to... More »

Ars Technica has their very own mole, who they say is very good at what he does. Looks like he dug up some interesting stuff on Sony's plan for the holiday season. The rumor is as follows: the 80GB PS3 falls to $499.99, and a brand new 40GB PS3 is offered at $399.99.
Analysts have predicted the 80GB price drop before. As for this 40GB model, we've had a few tip offs that it might be in the works. In addition, the mole adds that Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray may be packed in with one or both of the bundles, and the PS2 drops to $99.99. Of course, these are merely rumors, so don't hold your breath while waiting for lower priced PS3s. We expect to find out more at Tokyo Game Show.
Helping to 'confirm' rumors of a new upcoming SKU for the PS3 (40GB?) is the fact that SONY currently has a new SKU under testing at the FCC.. Model #CECHG01.
FCC Link: FCC ID 'AK8CBEH1000'
Nothing to indicate what the difference is but this does lend more fuel to the 'new sku' debate.
A new report confirms earlier rumors that Sony will announce a $399 40GB PS3 as early as this week. According to Sky News, a manufacturing source has revealed that Taiwanese FoxConn (which also produces PS2s) will make the rumored $399 PS3. An announcement could come sometime this week in an effort to "spoil" the high profile launch of Halo 3 for Xbox 360 says Sky.
Previous reports speculated that Sony would drop the price of the 80GB PS3 to match the current price ($499) of the now discontinued 60GB PS3. In order to offer a $399 PS3, Sky News reports that Sony will either remove the console's USB ports or backwards compatibility.
Sony denied comment on the report when contacted by GamePro.

According to the source (linked above) they have seen an unedited copy of the initial FCC filing for Sony's much talked about new PS3 SKU. It is rumored that the new PS3 uses less power than previous models, the new PS3 will include a brand new controller (Dual Shock 3), the WiFi and Bluetooth parts have an upgrade to enable greater reach and lastly the inclusion of a 65nm chipset. To quote:
But after reading the report a few days ago, I have more details to report on the new PlayStation 3, as I’ve obtained an un-edited copy of the initial FCC (Federal Communication Commission) report (below with the original 60GB version of the PS3). Here are the things to note that’s not in the previous reports on this topic:

2.) The new PS3 will include a brand-new controller, most likely the rece... More »

Sony has posted Version 2.0 of their TERMS OF SERVICE AND USER AGREEMENT dated October 30, 2007. It also says "This Agreement applies to services, software and content provided through or in connection with PSN, including via the PLAYSTATION Store and virtual communities".
There are rumors that this could be in preperation for an open home beta and the 30th could be the day for a firmware update. Yesterday Sony VP of advanced technologies Don Eklund said at a HDTV conference that the "PS3 is expected to soon offer a firmware upgrade to boost its Blu-ray interactivity functionality".
