113w ago - SideQuest Studios CEO Marcus Pukropski has announced today that PS3 RPG Rainbow Moon rises on PSN this July 10th alongside some new video footage below!

To quote: Rainbow Moon is our upcoming role-playing game for PS3. It's been nearly two years since we started working on Rainbow Moon, so we can hardly believe that the game releases on PSN in just over two weeks – it'll hit PlayStation Store on July 10th for $14.99.

If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you'll enjoy a 20% discount, paying just $11.99, for the first two weeks after launch.

The last time we spoke, I explained Rainbow Moon's battle system. This time, I'd like to give you some insight into the game's character development system.

Many gamers think that character development is just about battling and leveling up. While that's partly true in Rainbow Moon, there's a lot more that can make or break a game.

Aside from RPG standards like experience points and gaining levels, in Rainbow Moon you can earn a resource called "Rainbow Pearls." You can exchanged these for improved character attributes or increased health and magic limits.

This system gives you a certain freedom in how you'd like...

125w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared details today courtesy of NIS on their upcoming PS3 RPG games including Legasista, Mugen Souls, and The Witch And The Hundred Knights.

To quote: Last night was a big moment for [Register or Login to view links], the developer of fan-favorite tactical RPGs such as Disgaea and [Register or Login to view links].

The publisher's US arm, NIS America, announced three new PS3-exclusive games set to roll out over the next calendar year: dungeon crawler Legasista, strategy-RPG Mugen Souls, and action-RPG The Witch and the Hundred Knights.

We sat down with NIS America Producer Jack Niida to learn more about each of the new titles. Enjoy, and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Legasista for PS3 (PSN)

This post-apocalyptic 2D-styled dungeon crawler – NIS America is describing it as a "survival action-RPG" – takes place in a far-flung future where science has been forgotten and technology is treated with superstitious awe.

The gameplay and concept will be familiar to fans of the ClaDun series, but Legasista ups the ante by enabling you to customize your weapon and skills, creating "thousands of attack combos." This PS3-exclusive...

132w ago - Zen Studios Managing Director Zsolt Kigyossy has shared a video today showcasing the collision of Pinball and RPGs in the Epic Quest DLC for Zen Pinball.

To quote: As you all know by now, it is [Register or Login to view links] quest to deliver the most entertaining and original pinball tables. Epic Quest represents a major step forward in the evolution of videogame pinball, blending RPG elements such as loot, leveling and XP with pinball.

This is something we have been dreaming about and working on for a long time. I'm excited to share a little bit about how we have blended two different gaming genres to create a totally new experience!

Zen's Epic Quest

It is the sworn duty of every knight to seek out evil, defeat it, and take its stuff. One such knight is Max, whose enthusiasm for combat is surpassed only by his love of rare and valuable loot.

Join Max as he battles hordes of evil (or just evil-looking) monsters, rescues a wealthy princess, and accumulates the loot and XP that make good deeds worth doing. If Max suffers a defeat, never fear! He will return in the next game with all of his hard-won loot and experience levels intact.

As you complete missions and table objectives, Max earns loot, which is essential for defeating...

Square Enix Announces a Winter of RPGs Campaign on PSN

400°
146w ago - Square Enix Product Manager Charles McCarter has announced news today of their upcoming Winter of RPGs Campaign on PlayStation Network, which includes popular titles Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy VI.

To quote: I'm here to announce Square Enix's "Winter of RPGs" campaign.

In some parts of North America, winter seems to have gotten an early head start. And while that brings a lot of headaches for those who have to contend with ice and snow, it's also a perfect time for us to announce our latest group of titles coming to PSN.

So, while you're staying inside and out of the cold, icky weather, why not fire up your PS3 and play some classic RPGs? We've got some great games lined up to get you through the cold days ahead.

So what's up first? Some of you may have noticed my responses to reader comments in my last column. And even last week, readers of "The Drop" were asking when we'd see this particular title arrive.

Well, get ready to travel not through time, but through alternate realities when Chrono Cross releases. Join Serge as he finds himself in a world where he died as a young child, meets the enigmatic thief Kid, and goes on a quest for the artifact known as the Frozen Flame!

The sequel to Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross delivers...
