Citizens of Earth: Retro-Inspired RPG Out Today on PS4 and PS Vita

300°
1w ago - Atlus PR Manager John Hardin announced today that the retro-inspired Citizens of Earth is officially out today on PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: Greetings, citizens of Earth - I'm here to talk about, uh... [Register or Login to view links]. Errr, right!

Today, ATLUS and indie developer Eden Industries will put you in the role of the second-highest bureaucrat on the planet, the Vice President of Earth. But don't let the politics fool you, because there aren't any in the game.

It's a retro-inspired RPG through and through, where as the VP you have to go around and figure out why the world has gone mad.

But here's the deal. When you're a career politician, you don't get your hands dirty, you make other people do it for you. As the VP, your job will be to recruit as many citizens as possible and use their special abilities to round out your party.

There are more than 40 citizens total, but you can only bring three of them with you at a time. And in addition to basic combat skills, the citizens also have special talents that can be utilized to help outside of combat. Deep in a dungeon and need some health items?

Have your Brother order...

Ackk Studios: Indie RPG Y2K is Coming to PS4 and PS Vita

50°
12w ago - ACKK STUDIOS LLC Co-director Andrew Allanson announced today that Indie RPG Y2K is coming to PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

Below are the details, to quote: Hey, readers! I'm Andrew Allanson, from AckkStudios. I'm here to tell you about a 3D, turn-based, Japanese-style RPG that we are developing for PS4 and PS Vita. The game is called Y2K.

Y2K is being developed by Brian & Andrew Allanson with Jose Alfaro, Ian Bailey, and Brigid Allanson. We unite under the name of AckkStudios LLC! Ackk is partnering with Ysbryd Games to ensure polish and funding for the game.

So, what's all this Y2K stuff about?

For those of you too young to remember, Y2K refers to the year 2000 problem. Basically, it was a coding bug that was projected to create havoc in computers and computer networks around the world at the beginning of the year 2000... a lot of people thought the world was going to end because of this. It was pretty crazy.

With that in mind, here are more specifics about the premise: When an erratically-behaving elevator claims the life of a young woman, unemployed recent college graduate Alex Eggleston takes to a primitive 1990s message-board to find answers about the death of this stranger. His quest for answers leads to more questions as his research points him to...

Video: Pinball Meets RPG in Rollers of the Realm by Atlus, Details

100°
17w ago - Atlus PR Manager John Hardin announced today that Pinball meets RPG in Rollers of the Realm with a video and details below.

To quote: Okay, so maybe you've heard of Rollers of the Realm, the Pinball RPG from ATLUS and Phantom Compass; and maybe you even know that it's going to be cross buy for PS4 and PS Vita for just $9.99.

But what I'm sure you're still unclear on is "how the heck will this game work?" Well, fortunately for you, we put together this handy little guide for the good folks at PlayStation.Blog.

First, the basics: Rollers of the Realm blends the physics-based gameplay of pinball with all your favorite RPG mechanics. And we're not joking, you have a whole party of characters that have unique abilities (in the form of pinballs, naturally).

For example, your Rogue - who can steal gold from villagers or deal backstab damage on foes - is the lightest pinball in your arsenal and can be used to squeeze through tight spaces to unlock hidden areas. She also can summon her canine companion, that acts as a multiball to really clear out enemies quickly.

In contrast, there is the larger, heavier, drunken Knight who is less... accurate, but can smash through boxes or other barriers to...

Fantasy RPG Runemaster Makes Console Debut on PlayStation 4

50°
24w ago - EPOS Game Studios CEO Olof Gustafsson announced today that Fantasy RPG Runemaster is making its console debut on PlayStation 4.

Below are the details, to quote: Some pretty exciting news coming out of Gamescom this week! We at Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studios are bringing our upcoming role-playing game Runemaster to PS4.

There are a lot of 'firsts' to note here. This is the first role-playing game developed entirely by Paradox Development Studio, a group best known for its deep historical strategy games, like Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV.

It's also the first time that a Paradox developed title will be designed with both PCs and a current generation console in mind. Paradox Interactive has already announced that Magicka 2 will be coming to PS4, so 2015 will be an exciting year for Paradox and Sony.

What is Runemaster? As befits a Swedish developer, Runemaster is a fantasy role-playing game set in the exciting and darkly tragic world of Norse myth.

Drawing on Viking sagas and the Eddas of Viking bards, Runemaster tosses the player into the chaotic worlds of legend - Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, and so on - as the universe threatens to come to an end. Ragnarok could be coming and the player can choose to prevent this world-smashing...

31w ago - Sony Associate Project Manager Nick Accordino shared new details today on PS Vita's upcoming action RPG dubbed Freedom Wars alognside a PlayStation Vita trailer video below.

To quote: It's my distinct honor to bring you more information regarding one of the biggest PS Vita titles you'll see this year - Freedom Wars!

The futuristic action game launched last week in Japan, so we wanted to bring a few more details to our North American "Prisoners."

Those who were able to visit the PlayStation booth at E3 might have had a chance to play our multiplayer co-operative demo - thanks to all who stopped by!

I saw a lot of expert thorn-wielders soaring across the skies of the Panopticon, sawing Abductors apart and saving civilians to decrease their 1 million year sentence of penal servitude, and I must say, I was very impressed. However, the one recurring question I continue to hear from the community is - "How's the story?" Well, let's take a peek:

Freedom Wars promises intense co-op action with a captivating storyline. I'd like to leave you today with a message from our Japan Studio Producer, Junichi Yoshizawa. Yoshizawa-san has been tirelessly promoting Freedom Wars throughout Japan across the...
