2w ago - Cellar Door Games Designer Teddy Lee announced today that Rogue Legacy is coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita platforms on July 29th, 2014.

To quote: What's up guys! We're crazy proud to announce that the official release date for Rogue Legacy on ALL PlayStation platforms will be July 29th, 2014! That's only 3 weeks away!

That's complete insanity, and we're totes mcgoats excited to finally bring it to consoles and handhelds.

Now, before I go into a list of the awesomeness that is the Playstation versions of Rogue Legacy, I just want to give a shout out to the guys at Abstraction Games.

They did almost all of the work on bringing the game to PlayStation, and this would never have happened without them. So big ups to them for all their help!

For those that don't know, I should probably explain to you guys what Rogue Legacy is. It's a rogue-lite game where you must conquer a magical castle which is constantly changing. Every time you die, your children succeed you.

Each child has his or her own unique genetic traits, so one child might be a near sighted wizard, and another could be a flatulent ninja. So every play through is unique, right from the get-go.

As an added bonus, all the money you earn is passed down to your children, giving each...

To quote: A dread memory hangs above your head. A haunted castle stands in your way. And your family has struggled for generations in the name of redemption and fortune.

In Rogue Legacy, players embark on a harrowing quest in a retro-style Roguelike, filled with brutal challenges and hundreds of upgrades. Rogue Legacy is coming to PS3, PS4, and PS Vita, with all the dark humor and alluring secrets that made it an indie hit on PC.

We spoke with Cellar Door Games Co-founder and Game Designer Teddy Lee about how the team built this addictive RPG, and why they approached the Roguelike in a new way. See below for the full interview, and Teddy's insight into the design process.

Kenny Lee, Teddy's brother and Cellar Door co-founder, also notes:

We hope you're as excited about the release of Rogue Legacy on PlayStation as we are. Releasing a game on consoles has always been a milestone and a bit of a dream for us, and we never would have taken that step forward without your support and enthusiasm.

It means a lot...

48w ago - Cellar Door Games Designer Teddy Lee announced today that Rogue Legacy is coming to PS Vita, PS3 and PS4.

Below are the details, to quote: So if you guys have been surfing the web, you might have heard that Rogue Legacy is coming to PS Vita, PS3, and PS4. Well... it is! Pretty crazy stuff.

If you guys didn't watch the Sony Gamescom conference, you can check it out [Register or Login to view links]. Feel free to watch for, like, 30 seconds, even though the rest of it is really cool.

Rogue Legacy had only been out for about 2 weeks before we were contacted by Sony, so we're blown away by how fast they reached out to us.

But Shahid and Shane have been great guys to work with, and we were able to get the a-okay to develop Rogue Legacy for all Sony platforms in a ridiculously short period of time. So yeah, go Sony! It's hard to believe that Rogue Legacy was all but unknown a short 4 months ago, and now we're still unknown and it's four months later.

If you've never played Rogue Legacy before, think of it as a genealogical Rogue-LITE. It takes a bunch of roguelike elements such as procedural generation, tough difficulty, and perma-death, and puts its own spin on it. For example, when you die you don't start from...
