IGN has published its review on LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation 3 and report that it is an incredible game which merits a 9.5/10. They conclude by stating that if you own a PS3 then you simply cannot miss this one, likewise if you don't have a PS3 yet, then this game is a reason to invest in one!

To quote: As you can see, I had a ton to say in this review, but that's because there's a ton to this game. LittleBigPlanet is a massive game, one that is essentially two parts intertwined so well that they're practically inseparable.

Media Molecule has created a brilliant platformer, and then given you the tools to recreate the whole thing over again, or better yet, to create your own ideas from scratch. It's not perfect - the controls could be tighter, automatically shifting between planes can be problematic, the editor isn't quite as robust as you might hope - but what's there is nothing short of astounding.

If you own a PlayStation 3, you canno... More »

Yes folks, it's October, which means that the crazy end-of-year games rush has begun. A boggling number of games are due out over the next few months, so let us guide you towards the titles we really think you should be keeping an eye on.

Remember though, most of these recommendations are based on previews, so wait until the final review verdict before picking any of them up.

1. Animal Crossing: City Folk - Wii, 16th Nov US, December EU

It might not be the great hardcore hope Reggie claims it to be, but the Wii version of Animal Crossing certainly promises to be the definitive entry in the series. It's got proper online play, mic and keyboard communications, Mii support, a new city area full of customisable gear to pick up and connectivity between Wii and DS. In other words, it's got everything Animal Crossing always needed. AC is one of those games you either love or just don't get at all, but if you're the former, this will be a must. More »

The new Xbox 360 Dashboard OS update is coming soon and it is going to be one of the biggest changes to the Xbox 360 since the system hit the market.

It is going to include the first complete redesign of the Xbox interface called the NXE by all the cool kids. The New Xbox Experience (NXE) is going to be the best thing to hit the Xbox and it is going to completely redefine how we use it.

One of the niftiest things at Penny Arcade Expo 08 was seeing the new Xbox dashboard. Xbox Live's own Major Nelson showed it off. He made sure to stress that it is still a work in progress and that there was an army of programmers over in Redmond that were cranking out code and testing it as he gave the demo.

As a side note if you ever go to a game expo or press event and Major Nelson asks you not to film something in the presentation and you do it anyway and then go on and keep on filming after he notices you and calls you out and you don't stop it then y... More »

Gnosis of VGChartz (linked above) reports that Dark_Overlord of the N4G Forums picked up a copy of the PlayStation Official Magazine UK and noticed they had reviewed LittleBigPlanet.

Needless to say, it scored a 10/10 (the first of many) and they couldn't give it enough praise.

The magazine stated that it empowers you in a way that was previously confined to the PC modding scene and actual game developers. They concluded that you would have to have a 'sack for brains' to miss out on this one.

Scans of the magazine were uploaded to ImageShack, but sadly all the links appear dead now.

The only image we managed to salvage was the one shown below. Enjoy!

Update: We have received word from Paramount that they will meet the street date, and that the 'Iron Man' Blu-ray will not be delayed.

Blu-ray.com is reporting that the upcoming Blu-ray release of ‘Iron Man’ has been recalled. A few weeks back, some of those receiving review copies reported trouble playing the disc in their Blu-ray players. Apparently, there is an authoring problem with the disc, and distributors have been issued direction to send back all product.

According to those distributors, Paramount is doing everything possible to get enough replacement discs to retailers in time for its September 30th release date, but it may not be able to meet the demand. If Paramount can’t get enough titles onto retail shelves, they may delay the title until October 7th.

Online retailers like Amazon are likely to ship first-come, first-serve, so make sure you have your pre-order in now if you... More »

It appears that the first PES 2009 review has surfaced from Spanish publication Hobby Consolas. PES fan Web site WinningElevenBlog.com (linked above) has translated the review, and while it is a distinct improvement from PES 2008, there are a number of parts of the review that stick out like a sore thumb.

Firstly, the game is stuck on last year's disappointing engine and secondly the magazine admits the game hasn't found the 'sweet spot' on new consoles.

However, this hasn't stopped them awarding the game a score of 92%, but last year a number of Web sites also gave PES 2008 high scores despite huge disappointment from vast amounts of fans. To quote their summary:

- 8 different cameras, and each of them at 3 heights
- It also mentions that all 32 CL teams have full kits and names
- Players change facial expression when they lose the ball, they scream
- A.I. has improved very much according to the article
- The players ar... More »

Rather than taking the route of something like Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Capcom's Blue Bomber is making his return in the same way he kicked things off back on NES: 2D, and hard as hell.

The development team went all out in making Mega Man 9 look, act, and truly feel like a classic game, adding in extras like downloadable content, a ranking system for time trials, and achievement-like challenges into the mix.

Mega Man 9 will send you on a trip down memory lane, but it's also one of the best of the traditional set, rivaling Mega Man 2 in many respects.

On the presentation side of things, you're going to get exactly what you expected with Mega Man 9. There's a classically done intro, complete with ridiculous pixel art to tell the story, text that wraps incorrectly from screen to screen, and an interface that's mainly made up of two colors and really simple lists of options and modes.

Should you have the classic options turned on (def... More »

Not quite a full fledged sequel but never feeling like a tacked on expansion pack, Crysis Warhead finds the perfect balance for fans of the first installment all the while adding just enough new material to keep new recruits interested.

BOTTOM LINE: If you're a fan of the original or if you simply missed Crysis the first time around, Crysis Warhead is a prime example of an excellent, if relatively short, FPS experience.

Making things go "Boom"
Crysis Warhead takes place simultaneously with the original Crysis, recapping the events of what happened on the other side of the game's infamous island. You fill the cybernetic boots of everyone's favorite sociopathic Brit, Sergeant Sykes - AKA Psycho - and must battle your way through both a barrage of highly armed KPA radicals as well as a swarm of exosuit wielding aliens. And you thought your day job was tough.

Now, before we go any further, let's tackle the big question: can your computer... More »
