158w ago - Previously PS JailBreak users were warned not to update to PS3 Firmware 3.42 as it patches the PS3 JailBreak exploit, and today theruler and others on PSX-Scene (linked above) report that PS3 Firmware 3.42 consoles are now hitting retailers which have removed the exploit currently used for PlayStation 3 JailBreaking.
To quote: Several members of this forum and others have been reporting buying brand new PS3 Systems that come with 3.42FW. Systems above 3.41 cannot be jailbroken.
While not all systems in stores are 3.42FW and people have still reported buying 3.40FW systems, the increased reports of 3.42FW systems can only be a sign of things to come with Sony attempting to combat the jailbreak on all fronts, and signals an incoming scarcity of consoles with 3.41 or below.
If you or someone you know buys a system that comes with 3.42 please post as much information as possible in this thread. (Including box description, barcode, other codes, SKU, etc. Pics plz!)
Just got a ps3 160gb from the zellers moonlight madness and it came with 3.42
171w ago - Though the game has been presumed dead so many times you'd need an abacus to keep track, "Duke Nukem Forever" is very much alive - and he's coming to store shelves soon.
Take Two Interactive Software pulled off one of the video game world's biggest surprises Friday, announcing not only that the over-a-decade-in-development first person shooter was nearly finished, but backing that claim up by giving the 150,000 people attending the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle the chance to play the game.
The rest of the world will get its chance in 2011 - on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
To quote: "Gearbox has enabled die-hard key Duke Nukem franchise builders and skilled veteran game makers to stand together and deliver, said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software.
All gamers deserve a happy ending and after all of us gamers feeling the full range of emotions about Duke Nukem Forever, I am thrilled to be in a position with the trust, power and means to make it happen."

185w ago - Atlus' Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced alongside a video trailer that Hexyz Force for PSP is hitting retailers this week and PlayStation Network today.
To quote: Hexyz Force is making its way onto a retailer's shelf near you (and is already available via PlayStation Network for you folks who are on-the-Go... see what I did there?).
We'd like to take one last opportunity to alert you to what is undoubtedly one of the biggest, most substantial RPGs yet to hit the lovable PSP system.
Why so meaty? Well, it might have something to do with the fact that you can play the game's satisfying, drama-filled narrative (complete with political intrigue, betrayal, magic, and such things) as one of TWO different characters: Levant, an elite knight with a disdain for non-humans, or Cecila, a young cleric with potent dormant magical abilities.
Each protagonist has a unique backstory and perspective on the world of Berge (that's where everything goes down).
More importantly, they each basically experience a completely different game (20-25+ hours of game, mind you), meaning that folks who play through as both characters will get a rich, two-sided adventure with 50+ hours of amazing roleplaying goodness (it's kind of why we've...
