The release of cover art alone is rarely enough to warrant a story, but since Infinity Ward relied on its Charlie Oscar Delta community members to vote on and offer suggestions for the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare cover art (and we covered it), we thought we'd show you the final product. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will attack retail on November 5th, fan-assisted packaging and all. Here it is:

Update: According to Sony, SonyStyle.com is shifting inventory from its retail stores to the site to meet web demand.

Sony elaborated on previous comments made about 60GB PS3 inventory stock on Wednesday, confirming that only retail supply of the $499 machine remains and suggesting that the expected 80GB price drop is imminent.

80GB PS3 bundle to drop to $499? We no longer have any inventory in SCEA warehouses. All inventory has been purchased and shipped to retailers, Sony's Dave Karraker said in an email.

We don't have visibility as to if that is on their store shelves or in their warehouses at this time. However, based on inventory reports from our retailers, there is ample supply still left in the channel.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Sony's online inventory had been fully depleted. In July, after slashing the PS3 price by $100, the company said that the now discontinued 60GB PS3 would be available for several months... More »

The new PSP is a slimmer, lighter version of the original, with a few new features. The system plays the exact same games, but now it has a video output port that lets you connect the PSP to an external display, such as an HDTV, for big-screen playback. The system also has a simplified UMD loading tray, 32MB more system memory, lower power consumption, a smaller battery, and can now charge via USB. The new PSP will replace the current system this September. Systems will be available in Piano Black, Ice Silver, and Ceramic White. They'll come in various retail packages with a variety of bundle options that include pack-in games, UMD movies, memory sticks, and, in the case of the white PSP, a Darth Vader silk-screened battery cover.

The Ice Silver PSP will ship with the Daxter PSP Entertainment Pack.

While it was nice to check out the new PSP's redesigned features at E3, what we really wanted to do was pull out a few games and test how the new portable handles ... More »

Big new selling point... not for sale

Game retailers will not be receiving official TV cables for the new PSP when it launches in Britain on September 14. An official spokesman for national retail chain GAME told GamesRadar that the cable, which is needed to play PSP games on a home TV set, would not be available at launch and that it was unknown when official units would arrive. It was also revealed that there won't be any colour choices available at launch - it's black only for now, with Ceramic White (and presumably the promised Ice Silver version) to follow at an unspecified date.

It seems odd that Sony would release the new model of PSP in Blighty without letting gamers enjoy its best new feature from day one. It's worth noting that PS3 doesn't ship with an HDMI cable (unlike Xbox 360 Elite), but this isn't just a case of 'doesn't have one in the box'. Apparently they just won't be available from the get-go.

We have also learned that t... More »

Analysts maintain that Sony will drop the price of the 80GB PS3 to $499 once retail supply of the discontinued 60GB model depletes; an announcement could come at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.

$100 PS3 price drop still not enough? "We note that Sony recently acknowledged that it will no longer produce its 60Gb PS3, and we expect the price of the 80Gb PS3 to be reduced to $499 before the holidays," said analyst Micheal Pachter after it was revealed that Sony's internal supply of 60GB had run dry.

Analyst Jesse Divnich agrees. "To remain competitive against the other consoles, the Sony PS3 would have to reduce its 80GB SKU by $100 down to $499. Other options, besides a price drop, could be the bundling of more free software titles, which has always been a popular option during the Holiday season," he said.

In addition to a heavy reliance on master recording tracks, Activision and RedOctane have signed on a number of big-name rockers to appear as bosses in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. One of the major announcements coming out of the GHIII camp during this year's E3 Media and Business Summit was that Guns N' Roses thrasher Slash would be doling out his special brand of rock for the rhythm game. Earlier this month, Poison frontman Bret Michaels was named as the second legend of rock to take the stage.

The third epic rocker to lend his signature twang in person to Guitar Hero III will reportedly be Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Morello reportedly confirmed his appearance as a boss character, saying, "Whenever I play Guitar Hero, my opponent always kicks my ass on my own riffs...Now that I'm actually in the game, I hope the digital me will win once in a while!" A RedOctane rep has since confirmed Morello's presence in the game, n... More »

Monolith Productions is a developer in a prime position to shed some light on the situation, having achieved critical and retail success with their launch title Condemned: Criminal Origins, and working on their follow-up with the upcoming sequel, Condemned 2: Bloodshot. "There is a certain satisfaction in taking on major challenges and overcoming them -- and this was definitely a major challenge. Sega also wanted us to hit the launch date... [and] gave us great testing and localization support to help make sure that we did hit our dates," says producer David Hasle, who later adds, "We knew that being present at launch would provide us more time to get more game titles developed internally at Monolith Productions for the 360 over the course of the lifespan of the 360 so this was seen as a good business decision. Plus being one of six or seven games is better than being one of 50 or 60 games on the shelf at your local game store."

The making of Condemned 2 is not just about ... More »

After posting a less-than-expected second-quarter net loss of $9.3 million last month, THQ reaffirmed its fiscal year 2008 guidance of $1.12 billion to $1.15 billion in net sales. THQ president and CEO Brian J. Farrell told analysts that forecast hinged largely upon the projected platinum status of five internally developed multiplatform games: Frontlines: Fuel of War, MX vs. ATV Untamed, Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, the latest Destroy All Humans!, and Stuntman: Ignition.

However, selling a million copies for at least one of those games may not be as done of a deal as THQ hoped. In a company note to investors, Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian said early sales of Stuntman Ignition were "a little slow off the blocks" and "slower than originally anticipated." Sebastian noted that the over-the-top racer was experiencing a weak sell-through at retail and that restocking orders were "unlikely in the near-future."

However, Sebastian remained optimisti... More »

That's right, you don't have to download the Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles expansion to play it on your Xbox 360, Bethesda today confirmed that the pack will be going to retail in October and will also include the Knights of the Nine content.

The retail disc will sell for $30, no word yet on whether they will be doing the same for the Playstation 3, though I'm told they are looking into options.

Bethesda also let us know that Prima is releasing a new nearly 500-page Game of the Year edition of their Oblivion Game Guide which will cover all of the content released to date.

Hit the jump for the release.
