Microsoft may be looking to put the mixed reception of Windows Vista behind them, but there is at least one aspect of their latest OS that they’re keen to keep alive.
Last week we reported the news that Microsoft seems to have lost faith in Windows Vista and may be releasing Windows 7 earlier than originally proposed. Now the latest on the Windows 7 front is that Microsoft may have not lost as much faith in Windows Vista as originally reported; at least not in one of its most important aspects.
Whether you love or loathe the functionality (or lack thereof) of Windows Vista, the Operating System’s appearance is one of its positive aspects. Large, user-friendly icons, a simplified interface, and little aesthetic touches that make menial tasks more visually engaging result in a Vista visual logic that simply makes sense.
Windows XP users can even convert the XP appearance to make their more reliable OS mimic the Vista look, and in this way can ... More »
Although Sony stated that Life with PlayStation was released by mistake earlier today, and has since been removed, some users managed to grab the 126MB file download.
Below is a screenshot of Life with PlayStation, with several more linked above on the official US PlayStation board courtesy of Chunk420.
Finally, below is a video of Life with PlayStation in action, which made made available by gaffyh via GameTrailers.
Check them out while you can, and if you snagged the file drop it on RapidShare/MegaUpload for others to play with and comment here. :p
The limitations of the DVD medium and XBox 360 hardware have not forced id to cut content from all versions of Rage (PC, PS3, 360), the studio has told Shacknews.
Following a report that id had removed "significant content" from all versions of the shooter so the game would fit onto two XBox 360 DVDs, id Software's Tim Willits denied that the XBox 360 version required the studio to sacrifice its vision for the game.
"There was NO CONTENT removed from RAGE because of the 360--NONE AT ALL," wrote Willits. "We feel the 360 is a great platform and will provide a fantastic Rage experience."
id has previously stated that the XBox 360 version of Rage will look worse than its PC and PS3 counterparts due to the limitations of the DVD medium. The studio had hoped to circumvent this by spreading the 360 release across three DVDs, though Microsoft's royalty rates apparently make anything beyond two discs financially impracticable.
When gamers catch glimpse of a game that hasn't been announced it's cause for much excitement. When a PSP version of MotorStorm appeared on UK retailer GAME's Web site Sony fans thought they'd stumbled upon something they weren't supposed to know about, but it seems we've all got excited over nothing.
Speaking to VideoGamer.com this morning, a Sony Computer Entertainment Europe spokesperson has confirmed that the listing is a mistake and that it will be removed shortly. So there you go.
Maybe the fan excitement over the listing will give Sony a reason to consider bringing the MotorStorm series to PSP in the future, but it's not happening just yet.
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is scheduled for release on PS3 later this year.

The Official PlayStation (UK) Magazine has published one of the first ever reviews on the PS3, and as expected it truly turns the tide and makes PES the soccer franchise with something to seriously prove.
Spallen of GameTrailers (linked above) has posted, but now removed, the scan of their FIFA 09 review in the OPM UK magazine.
They note that EA has taken the criticisms on board, and while FIFA 09 was always presented better, it now plays better... and to quote of FIFA 09: "brilliant, overflowing with new features".
Overall it received a gold award, and a score of 9/10.
