Sony on 5 Reasons Shoot Many Robots is Better with Friends

100°
110w ago - Today Lead Designer Josh Glavine has shared 5 reasons Shoot Many Robots is better with friends via Sony's PlayStation Blog.

To quote: Available tomorrow on PSN, Shoot Many Robots is an action game with a twist:

You can play with up to four people cooperatively online. If you don't already have an excuse to make three friends and kill some robots, we've provided five:

It's a simple formula. As you add more players to Shoot Many Robots, you'll encounter more robots, more explosions, and more chaos. Playing with co-op partners increases the number of robots in each level which means more things to kill... and more ways to kill them.

And more dead robots means more Nut pickups, which enable you to buy new guns and gear. All of the randomly dropping items like powerups and loot also drop more frequently. In co-op, everything is just more fun.

Co-opetition

At the end of each mission, the players with the highest kill counts are rewarded with more Nuts. This means you must work cooperatively to complete a mission, while also competing for the most kills - hence, "co-opetition."

Pick-Me-Ups

In co-op, you can revive your partners if they are downed. Having squadmates...

Sony Reveals 3 Reasons to Try PS Vita / PS3 Cross-Play Content

50°
113w ago - Sony Product Marketing Manager Wilson Cheng has revealed three reasons today why fans should try PS Vita / PS3 cross-play content below!

To quote: The day is approaching for you to finally get your hands on PlayStation Vita!

For some of you, that day is already here with the delivery of the First Edition Bundle. As we've discussed in several previous Blog posts, the connection between PS Vita and PS3 is one of the most compelling features that sets gaming on PS Vita apart.

Because we want all of you early PS Vita owners to check out the cross-platform gameplay experience, we're offering content on both platforms for one promotional price with two launch titles, Hustle Kings and WipEout 2048. Our friends at Capcom are also offering shared content for no additional cost with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Here's how it works:

• If you purchase Hustle Kings for PS Vita, you will get Hustle Kings on PS3 for free. If you already own Hustle Kings on PS3, you'll be able to download the PS Vita version for free.

• If you purchase WipEout 2048, you will be able to download WipEout 2048's DLC packs, WipEout HD and HD Fury for free when they launch on PS Vita later this spring (if you already own the PS3 versions)

• DLC purchased for...

ModNation Racers Spotlight: 6 Reasons Why This Game Rocks!

50°
204w ago - SCEA Associate Product Marketing Manager Chuck Lacson has spotlighted 6 reasons today why ModNation Racers for PS3 and PSP rocks.

To quote: I'm uber-stoked that everyone will finally get their hands on ModNation Racers TOMORROW on both PS3 and PSP!

Actually playing the final version of the game you've been working on for so many months is probably the best part of being in this incredible industry.

That's how I spent my weekend and that's when I was reminded of why I love playing this game (and why the Photo Mode rocks!).

#1 The Chuck Wagon

It's not sexy, it's not even that cool, but it's MINE. There is no feeling like making and racing your own kart, and it's 100% yours. Look out for this kart online, you'll both know who to aim your weapon at. If it passes you up, you'll know who just smoked you!

#2 Mini-Me

Some racers will make their favorite characters, some will think of some completely original creations of their own. But if you're like me, you will put yourself in the game so when you showboat, you can say, "THAT'S ME!"

#3 Bringing the Hurt (and avoiding it too!)

We've covered this subject in past blog posts,...

247w ago - Today (via IGN, linked above) Microsoft offers its top seven reasons for a PC gamer to get the new operating system this October:

1) Performance

To quote a coworker: 'Across same hardware, Crysis runs awesome on Win7! Even better than XP!'. Code for the OS has been optimized for better all around performance for games. Whatever you're playing now should be a better experience in Windows 7.

2) Compatibility

The top third-party games, services, and international versions of games have been tested in Windows 7, so you should not worry about Windows 7 breaking your games. Feel free to move to Windows 7 because whatever you're playing now should work fabulously in Windows 7.

3) Discoverability

You can use Start -> Search to find any game you just downloaded or installed. No need to launch a separate application. Likewise, you won't need to launch a game to get more info about it: The Windows 7 Games Explorer can show you in-game statistics within a preview pane plus delivers up-to-date info about your favorite game publishers and gives you the opportunity to try new games.

4) Easy updates

Five Reasons There Has Never Been a Golden Age of Gaming

550°
258w ago - Today the topic is the mythical creature called "The Golden Age of Video Games," or more commonly known as, "The 90s."

Lately many gamers across thousands of forums have been complaining about the reality show called WCG Ultimate Gamer.

They dislike the people on it. They hate the games being played. And they hate how gaming has become less of a social taboo. Of course, they also bring up the topic of the "good ol' days."

I haven't watched the show, so I have no idea if it's bad or not. I only have two reasons to turn on the TV, outside of playing video games; House and Gordon Ramsey. However, when I read someone arguing about how great video games were in the 1990s or 1980s, I have to wear my goggles and a rubber suit because there is so much bull being spewed.

The sad reality of it is, we are so much better off now than we were 15 or 20 years ago. Games have improved greatly, and it isn't costing us a fortune just to get a mere afternoon's worth of entertainment. I'm going to shatter the myths of the "Golden Age of Gaming" because I'm rather of sick of cleaning bullshit up in my room.

Games were difficult back then.

No they weren't.

A game with legitimate...
