Even though Resident Evil 5 producer Juntake Uchi thinks the Wii is a “wonderful piece of hardware,” he also believes that “even the title screen of this [Resident Evil 5] couldn’t have been done on PS2 or Wii.”
In some ways, this is an insult to the hardware of the Wii, but it’s not exactly a hidden secret that Nintendo’s system is vastly underpowered when compared to the 360 and PS3.
To quote: Kawata: First of all, and quite obviously, the graphics. Even the title screen of this couldn't have been done on PS2 or Wii. Online co-op as well; the number of enemies you can have on-screen at one time; destructible scenery, physics - we're using Havok this time.
We can do more complex stuff with AI; the concern I had in the very beginning is that sometimes an AI partner can become very frustrating. Now she handles fine and you can play through the game without her becoming a frustration.
I am as excited for Resident Evil 5 as any of you, it will probably be my Game Of The Year for 2009, and as March is quickly approaching, the excitement has been building. Then I saw the latest TGS Resident Evil 5 trailer from TGS ‘08...
When I saw the opening of this new trailer I honestly thought I was seeing a flash back to an older PS1 game, perhaps a earlier Resident Evil title done in HD (like the MGS1 flashback in MGS4). But no, this was Resident Evil 5.
I was shocked at the use of the “X” cut tree’s that were made famous by Grand Theft Auto 3. The gravel road was all jagged and stood out like a sore thumb over the blurred grassy texture and trees. Something was terribly wrong with that scene. After replying the video, I hear wind, but I see no trees move at all either.
The whole birds-eye scene looked bland and terrible. For the desert being such a bland environment anyway (compared to some, like jungle etc), what environment that... More »
By now, you may have heard about the “Major RE5 Reveal at E3″ that Videogaming247 is reporting. Some more information has made its way to PlayStationLifeStyle.net.
Whether or not this information is true is unknown. However we felt it is our duty to give fans a heads up on a HUGE announcement that MAY be coming @ E3.
Please take this as a rumor as that’s all it is at this point. No solid information on the subject yet.
From what I have been told, Microsoft is looking to pay Capcom an undisclosed amount, for timed exclusivity of Resident Evil 5. It is still not known if Capcom has accepted the offer... The information we got, was only that Microsoft has made the offer.
If this is going to be announced it will be @ E3. Similar to the GTAIV “showing of the tattoo” a couple of years ago. If this is true, all of you petition fanatics out there better get to work.
Remember this is just a rumor, and nothing is kn... More »
A Bluetooth-enabled MP3 player with an electronics material cost of less than $10 has been announced by Cambridge-based CSR, which is aiming the technology at the low end of the MP3 market.
“This is a single chip, low power, low cost, integrated Bluetooth-enabled MP3 player,” said Karen Parnell, consumer marketing manager, CSR. “The Bluecore player is really aimed at the low end to help new entrants in the market to reap higher margins, or sustain margins, by adding extra functionality in the form of Bluetooth.”
The BlueCore Player is based on the BlueCore5-Multimedia chip with embedded DSP co-processor and 16-bit stereo codec. The software development kit, source code and library files are all supplied.
“We see great demand from our customers for wireless connectivity in their products but this goes against the traditionally low cost model they adopt,” said Parnell. “They haven’t had to handle complex RF designs. So with the refer... More »
