ESRB Rates Final Fantasy Tactics for PlayStation Network

250°
279w ago - It looks like Final Fantasy VII isn't the only Final Fantasy game coming to the PSone Classics selection on the PlayStation Store.

The [Register or Login to view links] have recently rated Final Fantasy Tactics for the PlayStation 3 and PSP, meaning it's most definitely on its way to the PlayStation Store.

Let's hope with the second Final Fantasy title coming to the PlayStation Store, that there are more to come.

Maybe we'll soon get Final Fantasy IX, Ehrgeiz, Chrono Cross and other Square PSone titles on the PlayStation Store.

More details to come as they are available!

Developers neglecting PS2, Mercenaries 2 rates worse than original

50°
320w ago - IGN has reviewed Mercenaries 2 on the PS2 and the sad thing is that it looks and plays worse than the original, which was released three and a half years ago!

It seems as if the developers watered down this version, perhaps because of their PS3/XBox 360 commitments. It's so bad, they scored it a 3.9/10 and that's REALLY bad coming from the usually high scoring IGN.

To quote: The original Mercenaries came out three-and-a-half years ago. But instead of giving us a game with more than three years worth of updates, Pi Studios has actually taken three steps backwards. Mercs 2 looks worse, plays worse and is just plain worse than the groundbreaking original.

Why this watered-down version was even published is a mystery. Were this game fun, with the missions structured in a way that made them enjoyable, thaen there'd at least be a reason to rent. But there's nothing here to recommend.

Mercenaries 2 on PS2 is a bad game. 'Nuff said.

ESRB Rates Possible PS1 Titles For PSN

100°
337w ago - For fans of the original PS1, Sony really hasn't been adding classics to the PlayStation Store at a fast enough pace. There have been a few, of course, but there are many more PS1 greats that should eventually find their way to the Store (for play on both the PS3 and PSP).

Well, according to a PS3Fanboy reader, it seems the ESRB has rated several fantastic PS1 titles that have yet to arrive on the Store. Well, we have to assume that if the ESRB is rating these games again, they're being prepped for another release... It's only common sense. Here's the list:

* Wipeout XL (E-Everyone)
* Jet Moto 3 (E-Everyone)
* Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo (E-Everyone)
* Buster Bros. Collection (E-Everyone)
* Street Fighter Alpha (T-Teen)
* Rayman (E-Everyone)
* Castlevania Chronicles (T-Teen)

Unfortunately, we have no idea when these classics might hit the Store, but we're assuming SCEA will make the announcements some time soon. With the likes of the original Rayman, Castlevania: Chronicles and the fantastic Wipeout XL (one of the best titles ever, in our estimation), this would be great news indeed.
