New Raiden Shoot-em-Up Coming 2015, Raiden IV Stick Compatible

100°
20w ago - UFO Interactive's Alex Lotz announced that a new Raiden shoot-em-pp video game is coming to PS3 in 2015 and confirmed it is Raiden IV Stick compatible.

Below are the details, to quote: Japanese developer MOSS recently announced that the next game in the Raiden series will be arriving in 2015. Until that game arrives, the latest in the series - Raiden IV: OverKill - is exclusively available on PlayStation Store for PS3.

Those fighting for a spot on the high score list, which also posts a replay of their session for the world to see, are standing a better chance with their chosen hardware thanks to the new arcade stick [Register or Login to view links].

Playing Raiden IV: OverKill is a brutally instructive experience. Like Tom Cruise's character in Edge of Tomorrow, you can expect to die countless times as you learn the patterns of your enemies. But once you've put in the work it takes just to survive the game's onslaught, it dares you to take more risks by rewarding you for breaking up your natural movement patterns.

In the game's OverKill mode, certain defeated enemies linger on screen in a slow crashing animation. Pumping these wrecks full of lasers, protons, and missiles charges...

Raiden Revealed for Next Metal Gear in Kojima Interview

286w ago - Update: According to [Register or Login to view links], whom have translated the article, a Metal Gear Solid for both PSP and PS3 will be released that will be connectible with each other.

The game will take place seven years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4. The Big Boss character in the scans is not actually Big Boss but his most recent clone, who's said to have played a role in Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4.

Over the last seven years his aging has been rapid. That's all we got out of the translation.

The countdown site for Kojima Productions' next game has recently updated with an image of Metal Gear Solid's Big Boss. Now, a new interview with Kojima in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine has the image of Big Boss and Raiden (it could also be Gray Fox).

The interview, titled "Director Kojima Interview With Tons of Blanked Out Words: Talking The Latest MGS", contains little information on the next Metal Gear Solid since Kojima says at the end that it's only okay to publish the interview if Famitsu blanks out all the important words. Those are what all the white...

Countdown Suggests Next Metal Gear Solid to Focus on Raiden?

550°
287w ago - As a follow-up from speculation earlier today, the countdown timer on Kojima's Web site finally counted down and revealed a picture of a boss (pictured below).

It could be Raiden, but no one is sure of who it is yet... but his hat does have a strange symbol that would seem to point to Metal Gear 5.

It does appear the recent rumor of the NEXT title being Lords of Shadow may have just been that, a rumor, though.

More details to come as they are available, and feel free to share your comments below.

GDC '09: Mission: The Next Metal Gear Solid - Raiden?

350°
295w ago - If you've followed the [Register or Login to view links] of Hideo Kojima's GDC 2009 Keynote, you might be asking yourself, "What's the deal with the last startling images of the presentation?".

After a rousing speech taking audience members through the entire Metal Gear franchise the last image we were left with was a bold still which reads "Mission: The Next MGS". Furthermore, planted in the top right corner of the still is a clear impression of the cyber ninja Raiden (close-up after the cut):

Which leads us to Kojima's interview earlier this week with [Register or Login to view links], where he stated that work was currently underway on a new game and that "An official game announcement will be made at E3."

Could the images above be the smoking gun for the next Metal Gear Solid to be a Raiden-specific outing? Given that of course, there was no other mention of specifics or hints given throughout the keynote, for we'll have to wait and see not when, but what will be announced at this year's E3.

There's definite writing on the wall, but what's your theory on the official announcement at E3?
