PlayStation Plus: Puppeteer, Surge Deluxe Free for PS Plus Members

100°
18w ago - Sony Senior Community Specialist Kristine Steimer is here with this weeks PlayStation Plus content updates, which include Puppeteer and Surge Deluxe free for PS Plus members!

To quote: Puppeteer is a stunning adventure starring a boy named Kutaro, who unfortunately gets turned into a puppet and then has his head removed. Tough break.

As you make your way home, you'll collect heads from other sources (not sure why there are a bunch of heads lying around, but y'know), which serve as collectibles and your health bar.

Color-match games can be quite addictive, and Surge Deluxe on PS Vita is no exception. As you clear out blocks of the same color by dragging your finger across Vita's touchscreen, you'll also be racing against the pressure building in the surrounding pipes. If you don't vent the pipes by clearing out blocks, it's game over. Don't worry though, you can always try again.

You can download Puppeteer and Surge Deluxe after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow, May 20th.

Puppeteer on PS3: Japan Studio on Taming Its Unruly Teenager

50°
50w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared details on Puppeteer for PS3 today from Japan Studio on taming its unruly teenager below.

To quote: All games are the product of individual creators, and while it's occasionally hard to see it, all are duly imbued with the personalities of the artists that first breathed life into them.

As anyone who's played it will surely know, this is no more true than it is with PS3 platformer Puppeteer. Japan Studio's sublime adventure drips with charisma, character and, above all, passion.

With its launch last month now disappearing into the rear view mirror, we stopped by creator Gavin Moore's Tokyo office recently to find out how such an idiosyncratic and personal project got made, and what it's like having to let go and hand it over to the game-buying public after three years of hard work.

Read on for some fascinating insight into the creative process, and for an exclusive glimpse at some never-before-seen artwork from the game.

Oh, and if you haven't found the time to play it yet, I urge you to do so! It's one of the year's finest. To see more trailers, screens, and, of course, grab...

Video: Puppeteer Out Today, PlayStation 3 Launch Trailer Unveiled

100°
54w ago - Sony Worldwide Studios Art Director Gavin Moore announced that Puppeteer for PS3 is officially out today alongside a PlayStation 3 launch trailer below.

To quote: Hi everyone. At last, after more than three years of hard work, we finally get to launch Puppeteer today for PS3.

It's a true labor of love, and we can't wait to see what you all think of it. Take a look at the launch trailer for a taste of what's to come.

When I started with Puppeteer, the idea was to take a lot of inspiration from Japanese culture and mash it up into a crazy game. I really like that old look, but I'm glad we decided, as a team, to move the art direction to where we are now.

Mixing both Western and Japanese influences and moving more towards a darker, grimmer fairy tale. Besides, it would have been hard to be as creative and crazy with the characters and the world if we had stuck to the original look.

Looking back over the three and a half years of production, Puppeteer has been a lot of fun to make. Half of me is glad that we finally finished, but the other half feels a little sorrow because I won't be able to direct Kutaro on his crazy adventures anymore.

The best thing, though, is that...
