Rain Games: Teslagrad on PS3 & PS Vita: The Secrets of Magnetism

50°
6w ago - Today Eduardo Garabito of Rain Games announced that Teslagrad is hitting PS3 and PS Vita this year with some Secrets of Magnetism detailed below.

To quote: Hi! We've wanted to write this piece for a long time. It's been great to announce Teslagrad for PS3 and PS Vita coming this year, and it's also wonderful to have this opportunity to present our game in detail.

Let's suppose that the question here is simply "Hey, what's Teslagrad about?" We've had to answer that question many, many times, and we have our response down to a science:

Teslagrad is a puzzle platformer with action elements, where magnetism and other electromagnetic powers are the key to go throughout the game, and thereby discover the secrets kept in the long abandoned Tesla Tower.

That's quite the statement. How did you like it? It's like a mantra. We just can't recall how many times we've said and/or written that. And that's why we're looking forward to this post. Now we can go into more detail. So, Teslagrad is...

Magnetism: Magnets, we know how they work! Electromagnetic forces are the lifeblood of the game, either acting as a magnetic elevator or as part of teslamancer weaponry (just to pick a couple of the many examples). Magnetic interaction allows you to not only play around as much as you...

Orangepixel Games Coming to PS Vita, Starting with Gunslugs

11w ago - Orangepixel's Pascal Bestebroer announced today that their videogames are coming to PS Vita starting with Gunslugs.

Below are the details, to quote: I'm Pascal Bestebroer, the indie developer known as Orangepixel.

I've been developing games since 2004, which have appeared on older mobile platforms like J2ME, as well as newer ones like Android and iOS. That said, it's likely you don't know Orangepixel... yet!

With the help of the guys at Abstraction games, I hope to change that and make my games more known to new audiences, starting with PlayStation gamers. So, Gunslugs will be the first of the Orangepixel titles to hopefully land a spot on your PS Vita this month!

As I mentioned above, I've been creating games since 2004, and all the Orangepixel games have a few key elements in common:

First, they feel, look and sound "retro." This is a very commonly used term these days, but don't judge the games because they looks retro - I also try to imbue my games with newer tricks, gameplay concepts and even some triple-A ideas, bringing old-school style games to a more modern audience.

The final element that all Orangepixel games share, is that they are hard. Not brutal, and...

Dumping Games from PS Vita Cartridges Now Possible by Katsu

400°
13w ago - Following up on the previous PS Vita Dual Firmware Boot PoC demo, today Sony PlayStation Vita hacker xmax katsu has made available details on dumping games from PS Vita cartridges.

Below are the details, as follows: Dumping games from PS Vita Cartridges is now possible! - The beginning of piracy?

After Yifan Lu’s great hardware reports about the PS Vita, its motherboard and its nand, our user Katsu found a way for dual booting the PS Vita, which can kind of be seen as a downgrade solution.

But that is not everything that he was able to do. Katsu is on fire and also looked at the Vita cartridges... see below for some more electronics joy!

PS Vita Cartridge dumps now Possible - Does this enable piracy?

Katsu seems to be able to dump a PS Vita cartridge - you know, those tiny physical modules that contain PS Vita games, a cartridge, like we know them from the Nintendo DS and 3DS - and is therefore able to retrieve the games in the format how they...

Necrosoft Games: How to Kick Butt in Gunhouse on PlayStation Vita

50°
14w ago - Necrosoft Games Director Brandon Sheffield reveals how to kick butt in Gunhouse on PS Vita today!

To quote: Hey pals! I'm happy to announce that Gunhouse is available now on PlayStation Mobile! We've got music by Disasterpeace of Fez fame, code by the guy that made Frog Fractions, and design by yours truly.

I'm here to give you some Hot Tips to excel at Gunhouse, which is a pseudo-turn-based, puzzle game/tower defense sort of hybrid. The aim of Gunhouse is to protect your precious orphans from these mechanical alien invaders, who want to eat your dang orphans. Why!? Who would do such a thing?

What you have to do in a nutshell, is make big ammo blocks within the puzzle grid inside the house. Slide smaller blocks to the left and right - you can slide as many or as few smaller blocks as you like, and use the power of gravity to fuse four similar blocks into a 2X2 big block! Or 2X3! Or if you're a super pro, 6X3!

Then you have to slide blocks to the left to load the guns on the front of your house. You can also slide blocks to the right to load special attacks on the back of your house. Once the door shuts on your puzzle grid, it's time for action.

Enemies will come from the left side of the screen, and you tap your...

Video: Abstraction Games: Gunslugs is Coming Soon to PS Vita

35w ago - Abstraction Games Creative Director Tj'ien Twijnstra confirmed today that Gunslugs is coming soon to PS Vita.

Below are the details, to quote: Hi everyone, I'm Tj'ien, creative director at Abstraction Games, and I'm more than excited to tell you that we'll be bringing Orange Pixel's highly addictive, retro-inspired, side-scrolling roguelike Gunslugs to PS Vita.

We came into contact with Gunslugs' creator Pascal Bestebroer - "indie game developer extraordinaire" - through the nice people at Sony Computer Entertainment, who suggested he get in touch with us after they were amazed by the work we did on Hotline Miami for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

We were tremendously honored to be referred by Sony and we were thrilled to be working with Pascal as he has created so many great, retro-inspired gems, that we felt we had no other choice than to jump onboard straightaway.

After we had worked on Knytt Underground and Hotline Miami, we're all really excited about the tremendous potential of the PS Vita and its unique input systems.

But the more traditional, natural feeling of the physical buttons, combined with the amazing OLED display, make the idea of bringing Gunslugs over a no-brainer from our perspective. In fact,...
