Feel the Beat in Jungle Rumble, Swinging Soon to PlayStation Vita

50°
3d ago - Disco Pixel's Trevor Stricker invites PS Vita fans to feel the beat today in Jungle Rumble, which will be swinging soon to PlayStation Vita.

To quote: We are stoked to announce that our rhythm game sensation, Jungle Rumble: Freedom, Happiness, and Bananas is coming to PS Vita very soon! We are adding more monkeys, more beats, and more bedlam. This is bananas!

What's Jungle Rumble? The player drums to control a tribe of monkeys. A rival tribe invades to steal bananas. The player sends monkey minions into the fray by drumming on the screen. It's the world's craziest rhythm game.

Using the PS Vita's touch screen to tap along to the beat of the jungle, players drum on monkeys and then drum on trees to have their simian soldiers swing through the trees. Drum on coconuts and then drum on enemies to throw those coconuts with rhythmic flair.

The player jaunts through the jungle with a rhythmic grammar. Unlike a traditional rhythm game there is no script to follow-in Jungle Rumble drumming controls the game.

As the game evolves, the questions pile up. Why would that tribe invade and shatter the peace in the jungle? What would cause them to risk war?

Jungle Rumble features a dynamic soundtrack - as more and more monkeys team up, the music swells with intensity....

Video: Frozen Synapse Prime: Combat Basics on PlayStation Vita

4d ago - Double Eleven's Mark South shared a video today detailing the combat basics in Frozen Synapse Prime on PlayStation Vita below.

To quote: Hey folks. To better help you understand what Frozen Synapse Prime is all about, we've created a video that runs through the basics of combat.

Here's a quick look at how the simultaneous-turn-based combat system works in Prime:

1.) Players on two separate teams plot paths and issue orders to their squad members, creating a plan on a turn-by-turn basis. You have the option of simulating the plan before you commit to it.

2.) Both teams then commit their plans for each turn; we call this "Priming" a turn.

3.) Once both players have primed their turns the outcome of both teams' plans is played out and the resulting combat ensues.

Once you wrap your head around that, you'll need to try and predict your opponent's strategies, wipe them out, or complete a set of match objectives – depending on the match type. Reading the environment and working with the strengths and positioning of your squad is key to victory.

You will learn and develop your own strategies. The mind games between players, and inspiring players to anticipate and deceive...

Video: Frozen Synapse Prime Hits PS Vita on September 23rd

1w ago - Double Eleven developer Mark South confirmed today alongside a PlayStation Vita video trailer that Frozen Synapse Prime hits PS Vita on September 23rd, 2014.

To quote: Earlier this month we announced the impending arrival of Frozen Synapse Prime on PS Vita, and now I'm back to tell you exactly when to expect it on PlayStation Store!

Our turn-based strategy title will be available on September 23rd for PS Vita. We're also releasing Prime's soundtrack on PSN; both on its own and in the Prime Soundtrack Edition as a bundle.

We appreciate everyone who has followed us so far and waited patiently through almost 2 years of development. Needless to say we're excited to see it out on PS Vita this month!

This latest update comes with a trailer, touching on the story that lies within Prime and showing players what to expect when the game hits the store later this month.

For those new to the game, Prime is an asynchronous, turn-based strategy game that allows players to take on multiple matches simultaneously.

It also features a rich single-player campaign set within a dystopian future, where you take on the role of a tactician to a resistance group attempting to prevent an evil corporation...

Video: Run Like Hell is Coming to PS Vita on September 16th

1w ago - Mass Creation Producer Artur Gosk shared a video today announcing that Run Like Hell is coming to PS Vita on September 16th, 2014.

To quote: Hello. My name is Artur Gosk, producer at Mass Creation from Warsaw, Poland.

You may remember me writing here last year about Draw Slasher - a one-of-a-kind arcade slasher on PS Vita. This time I'm here to introduce you to our latest Vita game: Run Like Hell!

Imagine you're a fearless treasure hunter. Place yourself on a peaceful tropical island. Wait! What?! Spotted by a local tribe of hungry cannibals, you have two choices: check out if you taste okay with garlic, or Run Like Hell!

Not quite a "joyrun," you'd imagine. But hey, you got the adrenaline to speed up, and power-ups to slow down the pursuit.

Jump through hoops, slide under obstacles, and escape the pursuit while admiring a vivid tropical island in hand-drawn graphics through procedurally generated levels.

You can sweat in a jungle, run through a calm village, avoid the sun in cool caverns, and even get melancholic at dusk on the beach. There's a bonus level too, but it's much cooler than you might expect.

Run Like Hell! offers 3 game modes: The Great Escape (story mode), Arcade (endless run on various locations), and Online modes...

Video: Destiny: Remote Play Hands-on for PS4 and PS Vita

1w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman posted up a video today showcasing Destiny remote play hands-on for PS4 and PS Vita consoles.

To quote: Destiny is just days away! I wanted to share a quick video showing off its Remote Play experience, which enables you to wirelessly stream the game from your PS4 to your PS Vita.

I spent some time playing Destiny via Remote Play during the Beta and I was really impressed with not only how good it looked on PS Vita's vivid 5-inch screen, but also how responsive it was. The team over at Bungie actually optimized the controls for Destiny on PS Vita via Remote Play.

Check out the full control scheme (below).

One of the things we noticed during the week of the Destiny Beta was that a lot of PS4 owners were streaming Destiny to their PS Vitas via Remote Play.

In fact, Destiny was the No. 1 title for Remote Play during the entire month of July, racking up the most Remote Play sessions of any PS4 title.

Watch the video to get up to speed!
