60w ago - Following up on the PSP SaveGame Exploit on PS Vita from a few days ago, today PlayStation Vita hacker wololo reports that Davee has obtained PSP Kernel access on PS Vita through another exploit with a PS Vita PSP HEN demo video and details below!
To quote: Famous PSP dev Davee just posted a YouTube video showing him running PSP homebrews on a Vita. I initially thought “well, not a big surprise, he’s running his own port of VHBL to some random exploited game”, but it turns out this is much more interesting than that, as he managed to get a PSP Kernel exploit running on the PSP Emulator.
Davee had hinted a few days ago on twitter that he had PSP User mode access, but it’s a surprise to see Kernel mode today. What this means to the end user is full homebrew compatibility (unlike VHBL which is hit and miss), and potentially down the road, PSP iso loaders (the video actually shows a psp iso running). Check his video below:
The video shows a minimalist interface called “PRX Loader” which seems to be used to run the homebrews. No word...
136w ago - This weekend Total_Noob at PSPKing.de (linked above) has shared news of a PSP Firmware 6.20 kernel exploit recently found via reverse-engineering Rebootex alongside a few video demos including a peek at TN (HEN).
To quote, roughly translated:
"As the title suggests, I work at 6:20 TN (HEN). I have long found a kernel exploit, but never made it. Yesterday I started with programming and I come forward very quickly."
Those interested can check out the video footage below!
"I told you, it's not fake, here is a video where I show you my spoofed version and mac. when the screen is flashing purple, it means systemctrl is loaded. This time I use a better cam xD."
"The screen lights at the end of purple, which means that Rebootex was executed."
183w ago - Today daveexfusion of Team Typhoon has released a proof-of-concept video demonstrating Sony's PSPgo fully hacked, running HEN (Homebrew Enabler) 6.10 Custom Firmware.
The PicoDrive Genesis emulator is shown running Sonic through the PSPgo's savestate-like Resume Game feature, which can continue play sessions even after a full shutdown.
To quote from the video's caption: "This video is for bragging rights ONLY (since it's very cool nowadays) and shows our Proof of Concept 6.10 Custom Firmware running on the PSPgo.
This will never be released to the general public or anyone else at all whether you are a dev or not, this is Team Typhoon internal material, we have no reason whatsoever to waste a perfectly good exploit.
So don't ask for release dates. We don't care about your complaining, whining and everything remotely related and it's your own damn fault since you brought this on yourselves.
Better version of the video showcasing more homebrew coming next week. Thanks go to Sony for this awesome piece of new hardware, finally a decent hardware revision. Also thanks to all historied PSP Homebrew developers for paving the way for us to be able to do this."
To quote, roughly translated: Finally we arrived at the online Custom Firmware 5.03GEN for HEN-B (PSP-3000) and we're glad you're also likely to want to test it.
The essential novelty of 5.03GEN-B is the support of the games require a firmware higher than 5.03, including games protected against Custom firmware (Evangelion, Full Metal Alchemist ...). Yoshihiro worked out and managed to adapt this possibility of drawn-5.50GEN Custom Firmware D2 on 5.03GEN.
However, we have not reached 100% of our goals and some things are not perfect, unfortunately.
Before talking about what does not, here is a little reminder of what our custom firmware for the PSP-3000.
Background of core functions:
• COMPATIBLE with the PSP-3000 and PSP-2000 v3 official firmware 5.03
• Play backups of games REQUIRE PSP firmware above 5.03, including 6.xx
• Playing UMD REQUIRE firmware above 5.03, including...
