Video: PS2 Controller Hacked, Used to Control PSP Console

550°
240w ago - Recently [Register or Login to view links] hacked a PlayStation 2 controller and built an adapter that allows you to connect the PS2 gamepad to a Sony PSP console to control it.

For those curious, this adapter didn't require any hardware alteration to the PSP or the PS2 controller, as a plug-in was used on the PSP Firmware side of things.

The adapter then makes use of video out and PS2 controller extension cables, along with an ATmega8 microcontroller to handle the signals between the two devices.

Check out a video of the PS2 controller hack in action with a PlayStation Portable below, via YouTube!

LittleBigPlanet PSP Case Ad Hints at PSP-4000 Console Coming

50°
258w ago - Update: According to [Register or Login to view links], A4T's licence manager Angela Jones stated it was a "mistake on our part" so for the time being it appears the PSP-4000 will remain only as speculation.

Today TheLostGamer.com (linked above) reports that a LittleBigPlanet PSP case ad by Accessories4Gamers Ltd. from [Register or Login to view links]'s digital magazine (Page 17) hints at a Sony PSP-4000 console on the way.

This news appears to further confirm previous PSP 4000 rumors of it's existance.

To quote: "Whilst we've only really seen a whole range of Sackboy figurines on retailers such as Play.com, we've picked up an advertisement displaying an upcoming LittleBigPlanet branded PSP Case and includes a set of stickers for you to customise it.

The advert, from Accessories4Gamers Ltd., details that it is suitable for 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and PSP Go models too... wait... 4000?! Uh oh, seems like someone has maybe confirmed recent rumours too soon!"

Rumor: PSP2 to Compliment Sony's PSPGo Console in 2010

300°
261w ago - According to both [Register or Login to view links] and PSXExtreme.com (linked above), a new PSP console dubbed the PSP2 will arrive in 2010 to compliment Sony's PSPGo and feature PowerVR SGX543 graphics.

Apparently it has been in development since 2008, alongside several other PSP models, and will phase out the PSP-3000 console.

To quote: "According to [Register or Login to view links], the new generation of portable technology from Sony will indeed arrive next year and feature PowerVR SGX543 graphics.

We learn that past rumors were also mostly true, as their sources tell us the PSP2 has been in development since 2008 and exactly one year ago today, Sony unofficially announced the selection of Imagination Technologies' SGX graphics processor.

Earlier today, we heard something similar in regards to the potential tech leaks for the PS4 and new PSP, which is starting to become clearer and more legitimate.

It also seems obvious that Sony will push forward with the freshly released PSP Go and replace...
