If recent rumors are to be believed, the next Assassin’s Creed may indeed take place in 1700s France around the time of the French Revolution. And why not?

We already know from the first game that in the future what we believe is a relative of the famous Altair is being probed for his ‘genetic memories’.

Apparently the future isn’t interested in his relatives that were school teachers or pig farmers and are concentrating on those that were important instruments in history.

The French Revolution was a huge historic period of upheaval where the notion of absolute rule by the monarchy and the aristocrats was turned on its head when the downtrodden, starving, smelly, diseased peasants, incited by the intellectuals and merchant class, revolt and start killing off their so-called betters.

When they ran out of them, they followed by killing each o... More »

If we look back on 2008 and start ticking off the top names of 2009, one will want to assume that the PlayStation 3 has the momentum.

Not only does it have the obvious exclusive edge over Microsoft's Xbox 360, but it has several other factors going for it.

It's $200 cheaper than it was upon launch two years ago, the launch of the PlayStation Home open beta is scheduled for this month, Blu-Ray has won the HD movie war (and it's certainly the more preferable software format for games), the PlayStation Network and Store have taken gigantic strides, the machine is far more reliable than the 360, and yes, as we just said, the exclusives have really been impressive.

We saw Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Resistance 2, Wipeout HD, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, Valkyria Chronicles, and LittleBigPlanet this year and we can expect Killzone 2, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, the recently unveiled Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Heavy Rain... Recently 1UP has conducted a great interview with Quantic Dream's president and CEO (and Heavy Rain writer and director) David Cage, and have released a couple more screenshots that can be considered breathtaking to say the least.

Of course, screenshots have the ability to speak just fine for themselves. Make sure to visit the source (linked above) to see them all. Below is an excerpt from the interview:

1UP: You warned against reading too much into the taxidermist scene, but does that scene suggest Heavy Rain's themes might be more rooted in reality than Indigo Prophecy's?

DC: Definitely. We tend to believe in our industry that we need to tell simplistic or spectacular stories, where the hero saves the world, destroys evil, or has supernatural powers. This is because the videogame, as a medium, has been too immature to tell complex and subtle stories. I made this mistake myself at the end of [Indigo Prophecy], where I felt my story needed... It's no secret that iPhone has turned the mobile phone industry on its head, sliding past its smartphone rivals with its sexy design. We know Apple has opened a new chapter in mobile technology, but the real story behind this is how the iPhone is quietly taking over pocket gaming.

Business Week has already pointed out what is clearly becoming a new player in the handheld market. Apple has set iPhone on the right track to contend with Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable as the definitive portable gaming platform new figures show. Sales of iPhone continue to increase with each passing month, not to mention downloads from the App Store.

Momentum behind iPhone can't be discredited either as developers both large and small are flocking to the system. It all points to the strong possibility that iPhone could become the leading device for handheld gaming in the coming years.

The argument isn't a new one, as we were one of the first to identify the pote... More »

It has been confirmed that the New Xbox Experience increases the active downloads queue from six entries to a massive fourty.

To quote: Just a quick tidbit for you NXE-loving guys and gals out there. In my eternal thirst to find out more technical information about the NXE, I stumbled across a piece of info you might be interested in. This comes from one of the “Voices” Xbox.com pages:

“Speaking of downloads, the Active Downloads queue has been expanded from six entries to a whopping 40, making it much easier to fill your hard drive with lots of great stuff.”

Most of the article rehashes the normally touted features, but I thought y’all might be interested in something a little more fresh.

According to Spanish Web site PSNow, Capcom will soon release a selection of Street Fighter gear.

When confirmed, players will be able to dress up as fan favorite brawlers Ryu, Chun Li, Guile, and Zangief.

To quote: Why not? It seems the best way to promote your game today is to dress up Media Molecule’s lead character as that of your own.

If you’re a fan of the Capcom fighting series, you will apparently be able to pick up the character costumes shown above individually and as a package deal.

No word on price or release date just yet. Sit tight.

Earlier this week, Famitsu Weekly confirmed that a demo of Capcom's highly anticipated Resident Evil 5 would be coming to the Japanese XBox Live Marketplace on December 5.

Confusion arose as to whether the demo would be limited to Japan and only the XBox Live Marketplace.

Capcom, however, has confirmed that the demo will be appearing on both the PSN and XBox Live Marketplace, and in all major regions as well.

The demo, however, will not be launching simultaneously worldwide, and as of right now, there is no word on the western release date.
