114w ago - Last week PS3 Firmware 3.60 was released, and as of today Sony has updated the platform authentication xi passphrase for PSN resulting in Custom Firmware users (via FckPSN and similar methods) being blocked, however, according to IRC reports a PlayStation 3 CFW patch update shouldn't be far off.
To quote from PSX-Scene (linked above): "We are expecting sporadic PSN maintenance from approx 9am-3pm PST Thursday 03/17/2011. We apologize for the inconvenience."
That message was the last thing that CFW users got to see today, later after the network was back up everyone found they been kicked off their PSN!
Sony has finally enabled the new v3.60 auth system which was found hiding in the new firmware they had released last week!
Finally, from IRC:
Scorpion1: the 3.60 passphrase will be the same for everyone Scorpion1: well mathieulh said the 3.55 one is Scorpion1: saktdlMapxsbsghmq5dhlwrmtsicyijmzntqaLcpgd8ybbetdmsha=jm Scorpion1: and thats from his ps3 i take it Scorpion1:...
Please do not use the unofficial one that some bad guys released broken some days ago. That version does not send console ID on PSN servers when you connect, so you are quite anonymous! Please do not download that version that is not official and it does not work.
FckPSN is a simple SSL proxy, used to spoof your PSN version and re-enable PSN access for your console.

118w ago - Recently several methods, guides and even PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware has surfaced to get on PSN with PS3 CFW 3.55, and today drizzt84 has added to them with his own homebrew application dubbed FckPSN v0.3 followed by some updates below.
119w ago - As Sony usually does several days after each new PlayStation 3 Firmware update is released, today they have patched the proxy and PSN bypass methods following the release of the revised PS3 Firmware 3.56 rendering the PS3 DNS hacks useless once again.
Needless to say, when the next PS3 Firmware update arrives the PlayStation Network bypass methods will work again for another week or so before they are shut off, and the cycle will repeat for those unfamiliar with this pattern.
It also looks like Sony is remotely freezing PS3's that are already online using the bypass and when I unplugged the hard ps3 and booted it back up it wanted me to rebuild by database ^_^
Happened to both of my PS3's, leave me some feedback if this happed to any of you guys. Rebooted PS3's and had 2 extra applications on my XMB that were corrupt WTF?
120w ago - Today Hideki has released what he calls Simple PS3 Proxy, a PSN Firmware version bypass application which functions similar to the other PSN bypass methods.
Download: Simple PS3 Proxy
From the ReadMe file: Set on your PS3 a web proxy of (PC IP) port 8080
IE: if the machine you are to be running this proxy on is 192.168.0.12 then put that as the IP and 8080 as the port in the PS3 network configuration for your web proxy.
If 3.56 is still current, just run the app and click start. If 3.60 or later is now out, change the 3.5600 value in required PS3 version to 3.6000 or similar.
As long as the PS3 is correctly configured and this app is running, you will be signed in. This is licensed under version 2 of the GNU public licence, see license.txt for details. Source code is included in the archive in /src
