123w ago - Hello, I am going to review a PS JailBreak PS3 ModChip Clone simply called the PSJailBreak 2. This review will be detailed so I am going to criticize each aspect I find necessary.

1) Packaging

It comes in the "standard JailBreak packaging", it is good, I didn't like that they used 2 magnets for opening/closing the package...

Any magnet near any Hard-Drive or monitor will cause some damage, especially because many people would keep the package near the ps3...

2) The Object

It is very small and compact. It is enclosed in rubber, you can completely remove the rubber and enclose it again. Funny thing is that the shape of the device is exactly same contrasted to the Official PSJailBreak banners. The "PSJAILBREAK2.TW" that is written on it is a sticker that is easily removable...

3) Software

It is supplied blank which is good, but they didn't write their Web site anywhere, so I wouldn't know where to get software unless I searched. There are problems with the software, as follows:

127w ago - Today Spanish site NicaGamerz.com (linked above) reports that the PS JailBreak PS3 ModChip is now legal in Spain, and that Sony must pay damages to the defendant.

The Barcelona court trial verdict apparently hinged on Sony's removal of OtherOS functionality.

To quote, roughly translated: "In Spain there was a precedent because any PSJailbreak product is legal for sales and advertising.

According to court No 8 Mercantil de Barcelona, on 07 December two thousand and ten, was officially PS legalization of Jailbreak in any store in Spain, too, that Sony will have to pay all the costs to the stores selling this product.

With the departure of PSJailbreak, Sony tried everything possible to prevent the sale in Spain of products that create the bootable Playstation 3 video games downloaded over the Internet or using backups for loading the games, following complaints produced by Sony, shops that were affected did not hesitate to attack Sony resorting to lawsuits.

As a conclusion all the devices that were previously illegal and can upload copies of video games has been legal in Spain.

130w ago - Today Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 is making its rounds on the Internet by release group DComics, while PS3 JailBreak users are working on how to get it running without updating the PlayStation 3 console to 3.50 Firmware as required by the title.

The full US release name is Gran.Turismo.5.PS3-DComics and the game weighs in at 19.4GB (20,882,698,502 bytes) in size unpacked for those wondering (packed at 19515.8MB), with the leaked European version coming in at 13.72GB in size.

According to the NFO File, the following important note states: "To play the game you need to spoof your fw as 3.5 with one of the payloads available in net."

There is also now another scene release named Gran.Turismo.5.EUR.JB.PS3-PEMA in which the NFO File states the following: "Spoofed firmware 3.5 required" and under Install Notes: "Unrar files and copy gamedir dir to external harddrive or use some PS3 FTP server. Files must be placed in the GAMEZ folder."

Although there have been a few reports of it working they are unconfirmed thus far, with most currently reporting getting a black screen...

132w ago - Below is a guide I wrote on PSX-Scene (linked above) and here on PS3News how to get Call of Duty: Black Ops working with PS3 JailBreak on PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.41.

Today a copy of Black Ops arrived "in the usual places" and it required 3.50 to play.

JonahUK pointed out that when the EBOOT.BIN was viewed with a hex editor it showed it was compiled with the 3.40 SDK meaning it was debug update time!!!
