4w ago - XGen Studios CEO and Founder Skye Boyes confirmed that Super Motherload PS4 is officially out today on PlayStation 4.
To quote: With the launch of Super Motherload and PS4 today, we count ourselves lucky to be among the small number of indie games available at launch, helping to make good on Sony's promise to support innovation from small teams.
What we don't push in polygons, we hope to make up in truly social gameplay experiences that keep drawing you back. For the next puzzle, the next Special Upgrade, and of course your next grudge-match against pals.
One unique PS4 feature we didn't have space to mention in our last post is Super Motherload's use of the Activity Feed. As certain events unfold in Super Motherload, such as the untimely and permanent death of your hard-won upgraded character at the hands of fuel depletion in Hardcore mode, the activity feed will broadcast notification of your controller-hurtling rage to your friends on PSN. Other, more celebratory activity feed posts include the acquisition of Special Abilities and Character Unlocks.
There has also been quite a bit of interest in the soundtrack for Super Motherload since our last post. We're pleased to announce that we've decided to stream the entire soundtrack on YouTube for free (with digital download...
10w ago - Supergiant Games Creative Director Greg Kasavin shared a video spotlighting Transistor on PS4 showcasing some secrets of the DualShock 4 controller on PlayStation 4 below.
To quote: While being part of a small independent studio like Supergiant has its share of challenges, it's got a lot of advantages going for it, too.
For instance, one of the ironic differences I've experienced going from a very big game studio to a very small one is that things can often move a lot faster when there aren't too many people around to say "no."
This simple fact is core to our creative process at Supergiant. We like quickly coming up with, and trying, new ideas all through development. If you can loop through that kind of process quickly enough, it can start to produce great results, while the many inevitable failed experiments are easy to move on from, having taught you something.
Let me tell you about one unexpected example from recent months, involving a little trick we decided to try on a whim with the DualShock 4, when we first got our hands on it.
The story of our game, Transistor, revolves around this woman called Red, who winds up with an extraordinary weapon that, among its mysteries, is able to speak to her. When we tested early versions of the game on our...
14w ago - Evolution Studios Community Development Manager Jamie Brayshaw is here with some fresh PS4 videos for the weekend showcasing Driveclub 1080p footage on PlayStation 4 below!
To quote: Thanks to everyone that played the DRIVECLUB demo at Gamescom! There were some blindingly quick racers, and even though my team weren't the fastest overall, we earned the most fame points to win the challenge.
So that means that the Gamescom trailer plays out with "Like A Boss" winning, which I'm obviously very happy about! Also, in case you were wondering, the music track is Be Here Now by Hybrid (The Qemists remix).
The reaction we got at the show was fantastic, with over a thousand people trying the demo each day. I spoke to a lot of people playing the game and the key thing that stood out and really connected with people was the concept of "always having something to play for" and "always contributing to the success of your club."
The fastest racers loved that they could aim for first place on the leaderboard and still play over and above that to beat every challenge in every event.
17w ago - DICE Community Manager Vincent Vukovic revealed today that fans will be able to bring their PS3 stats to PlayStation 4 in Battlefield 4 on the upcoming PS4 video gaming and entertainment system.
To quote: This holiday, DICE will unwrap the next generation of all-out warfare with Battlefield 4. That means best-in-class multiplayer is coming to PS4 with huge 64-player battles, running at a smooth 60 frames-per-second.
Even if you start playing on PS3, we want to make your transition to PS4 easy. That's why we're notifying the devoted Battlefield and PlayStation communities that all of the time and effort you spend building up your Battlefield 4 stats will carry over when you upgrade to PS4.
That way, on October 29th, you can get in the game without any worries that you'll have to start ranking up all over again when PS4 launches. We got your back.
Today we also wanted to inform the community that DICE is promising to keep the action going all year long with the return of Premium membership for Battlefield 4.
With membership, players can expect themed digital expansion packs, new weekly content, and personalization options. And just as your stats, unlocks, and rank will be transferable from PS3 to PS4, so too will Battlefield 4 Premium membership.
19w ago - Bloober Games Creative Director and Vice-President Peter Bielatowicz goes behind Basement Crawl for PS4 / PlayStation 4 today with details below, as follows:
Hello fellow gamers! I wanted to give you some information about a game we are currently developing for the PS4 launch window - Basement Crawl.
Gameplay-wise, Basement Crawl is a maze-based action game with some strategic elements. Our main inspirations were old classics like Spy vs. Spy and Bomberman, and gameplay revolves around setting up traps (self-detonated or activated by characters approaching it or stepping on it without noticing) to hurt other players.
It's focused on multiplayer, but basic single player campaigns with bots to fill in for missing characters will be available too.
While our inspirations go back to the retro classics, we are making a game up-to-date with the competition. It goes from the audio-visuals - Basement Crawl will be 2.5D game with dynamic cameras - to the game modes, characters and mechanics.
We felt that many games nowadays are dependent on character development or luck and randomness, so we designed Basement Crawl to exclude the luck factor and remove the dependence on leveling-up characters.
We want to make Basement Crawl as skill-based as possible...
