50°
33w ago - Today some rumored Sony E3 ([Register or Login to view links]) 2014 Press Conference details were leaked by an anonymous source via DualShockers (linked above) which include Uncharted, The Order, Guerrilla, Media Molecule and more outlined below.

To quote: "We’re just a bit over a month to E3, and today a source that opted to remain anonymous contacted us to share what he alleges to be Sony Computer Entertainment’s plans for their press conference.

Our source mentioned that the information comes from contacts within Sony’s worldwide studios and a further contact at the BBH New York marketing firm, which works with Sony for part of its promotion.

The info reported below is awfully detailed, which is one of the reasons why we decided to publish it, but we were also able to confirm part of it with a second source. The double-sourced information is bolded, so while you should take everything with the customary grain of salt, the bolded parts stand on more solid ground than the rest.

• Uncharted PS4 3 Minute Trailer showcasing "In-engine" footage interspersed with gameplay segments. Visuals are supposedly unprecedented and set a benchmark for console graphics. Summer 2015 release date. It looks absolutely stellar. Features tropical...

PlayStation Now Beta Game Loading Times Leaked, New Improvements

50°
37w ago - Some PlayStation Now Beta game loading times have been leaked from an anonymous participant and have since been compared to the previous phase of testing with details below.

To quote from DualShockers (linked above): "Back in February a reader that wished to remain anonymous sent us a list of the loading times of all the games that were available in the first phase of the beta of PlayStation Now.

The beta has now moved on to the second phase, with a whole lot of new games available and even some returning ones. The same reader took it upon himself to clock the loading times again using the same internet connection and shared them with us.

Like last time, each timing in the list below is from the launch of the game to the splash screen. We were provided a video as evidence, but we were asked not to publish it to protect the tipster’s identity (and account).

Between parenthesis you can also see the loading times of the returning games in the first phase of the beta, for comparison’s sake.

Current PlayStation Now Beta List:

  • Shadow of the Colossus - 46.72 (old time: 53.98)
  • WipeOut HD - 57.19
  • Dead Nation - 40.05
  • PixelJunk Monsters - 39.90

Sony PlayStation 4 Audio Processor (ACP) PS4 Details Surface

200°
65w ago - Following up on the previous PS4 updates, today details on the PlayStation 4 Audio Processor (ACP) have surfaced from Sony documention.

To quote (via VGLeaks.com, linked above): "Mark Cerny confirmed in an interview that PlayStation 4 uses hardware expressly dedicated to audio tasks. What are the capabilities of this hardware? What is Sony telling to developers about it?

Here we have some material from Sony’s presentations where you can learn more about audio custom hardware in PS4. This dedicated hardware will manage basic tasks, for game or system, relying on the CPU or GPU for advanced tasks.

Another important point is that this audio block is not programmable by developers directly, they could only access it via OS."

PS4 Audio Processor (ACP)

  • Custom Audio Block
  • Access mediated by OS
  • Not programmable by game teams
  • Performs encoding and decoding
  • Game: 200+ MP3 or equivalent streams
  • System: Encoding and decoding for voice chat, etc...
  • Filtering and effects performed by game code
  • Presumably CPU, but GPGPU is also a possibility

Sony India Leaks Rumored PlayStation 4 / PS4 250 GB Retail Pricing

650°
84w ago - Today GamingBolt.com (linked above) reports that [Register or Login to view links]'s Web site has apparently leaked the rumored PlayStation 4 / PS4 250 GB SKU retail pricing with details below.

To quote: "Sony India apparently updated (now removed) their Web site to reveal the pricing for the upcoming next generation PlayStation 4 console. It listed the console along with a 250 GB hard disk drive as retailing for 399 Euros.

Of course, a while later, they realized their slip up and proceeded to delete the information. Not before other sites could latch on to the info however (thanks NeoGAF), and report on it.

As it stands, this would validate rumours that the PlayStation 4 would be retailing for $400 to $500 dollars (with 399 Euros roughly translating into $513). While we doubt that the price in the United States would be that much, we'd be surprised if Sony priced the console lower than $400.

Of course, this hasn't been officially announced by Sony worldwide - and they would at least use a platform like E3 2013 to announce the price of the device. So remain skeptical. It could very well have been a complete slip-up or just something completely wrong that couldn't be removed quick enough."
