650°
8w ago - Following Sony's PS4 Firmware 2.00 release and his previous update, today PlayStation 4 hacker SKFU shared a quick review on PS4 Firmware 2.00 discussing the importance of PS4 System TitleIDs.

To quote: It took a while until I found some spare time to check firmware 2.00 for the PlayStation4, but it was worth it!

First I'll show you two funny screenshots from my PS4 (below)

  • I told you the TitleID research is important, didn't I?
  • NPXS20993

So yes, I could finally access the ★Debug Settings on a retail console. But no, we can not use it
Sony learned their lesson and removed the back-end so this is not very useful for us.
Maybe there is a way to unlock it's full potential, but I could not find it, yet.

Here I explained how to start...

To quote: PS4 1.76 Webkit Exploit

Developers nas and proxima have extended the recently released Vita Webkit exploit, and made it compatible with the latest PS4 firmware, firwmare 1.76. (Update: Proxima actually clarified that although this is the same webkit exploit, it was developed in parallel to the Vita exploit, and not "based" on it)

Their proof of concept code provides several samples, including a module dumper and some tool to create more advanced ROP code.

I am not close to my PS4 right now and cannot confirm if the Proof of Concept actually works, but the code looks perfectly legit, the devs behind this have a great track of record, and it should be a matter...

Rumor: SKFU Claims DriveClub May Brick Your PS4 Blu-ray Drive, Details

550°
10w ago - Following up on his previous PS4 hacking update, today PlayStation 4 hacker SKFU posted on his blog that DriveClub may brick your PS4 Blu-ray drive with details on the rumor below.

To quote: DRIVECLUB may brick your PS4 Blu-Ray Drive?!

Driveclub is currently facing a lot of problems including a few delays, server-side problems and more. Today a friend from Hong Kong told me about a major bug which he faced due the release day of Driveclub.

Since he is PS+ subscriber, he has access to the free PS+ version of Driveclub. He added it to his download list, waiting for the next time he'd be online.

Meanwhile he also purchased the disc version of Driveclub. Full of "GREATNESS AWAITS" thoughts, he turned on his PS4 and went online.

As the Driveclub PS+ version was already in his download list, it began to download. While the game was downloading, he wanted to use his disc version and pushed it inside the PlayStation 4's Blu-Ray drive.

It seems that no one actually ever tested if a user would do that. The disc drive of my friend stopped working right away. Ejecting and inserting works fine, but the PS4 won't read any...

Videos: PS4 BD-J (Blu-ray Java) Homebrew Running on PlayStation 4

500°
13w ago - Similar to how PS3 Java Homebrew ran on Sony's PlayStation 3 console, today aries2k shared some videos of PS4 BD-J (Blu-ray Java) homebrew running on PlayStation 4 including BD J NES and BD J GB with details below.

This confirmation comes soon after PlayStation 4 developer SKFU released a Minimal PS4 BD-J SDK which is based on FreePlay's Minimal BD-J SDK for PS3.

From aries2k: Back in the day for the PS3, I couldn't even get the SDK compiled right. Lua is about the only thing I can code in, lol I'm going to have to leave the real coding for you Devs but I'm more than happy to test anything for anyone.

Ok, I couldn't find my camera so I had to use my vita for the videos. This is the NES BD-J emulator: BD J NES on the PS4

I just used this ISO from this...
