4w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements went hands-on today with Dying Light PS4 on PlayStation 4.
Below are the details, to quote: The art of parkour already has ample thrills for any athlete. You certainly don't need hordes of snarling ghouls nipping at your heels to make it any more exhilarating, but Dying Light blends the two together in a huge world devastated by the undead apocalypse.
Designed by the same team that brought Dead Island to the gaming masses, Dying Light is a first-person survival game. It boasts a new combat system and tremendous player freedom in complex environments. It also, as you might expect, includes lots and lots of infected (and ways to kill them, too).
The developers at Techland brought Dying Light to the PS4 launch event here in New York City this week, demonstrating the broad array of tactical options players have to approach any situation in game. Both combat and movement are essential components to the experience - running away from danger is just about as much fun as running straight into it.
Dying Light is set inside the wrecked and ruined city of Harran, a fictional locale with an ancient history. Game Designer Maciej Binkowski likens it to Istanbul, Turkey, as he boots up Dying Light on PS4, passing me the DualShock 4 with an eager...
4w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements went hands-on today with Need for Speed Rivals for PlayStation 4 with details below.
To quote: When the idyllic forests and glittering coasts of Redview County are screaming by your window, there's precious little time to appreciate online functionality like Alldrive. Which, in a way, suggests how well it's been implemented in the blazing-fast Need for Speed Rivals.
From the newly minted Ghost Games in Gothenburg, Sweden, Rivals launches alongside PS4 on November 15th. It puts players firmly behind the wheel of either a cop or racer in a massive network of roads, laced through boiling desert and rainy hills.
Rivals made an impressive appearance at the PS4 launch event here in New York City, with a live demonstration of the Alldrive multiplayer functionality, and even a few perilous night races using PS Vita Remote Play.
With DualShock 4 in hand, I dropped into Redview - which was heavily inspired by the California coast - where several players were already burning through the map. Ghost Games' Founder Marcus Nilsson was at my side as a fellow cop.
No pressure. Pulling up alongside his beautiful patrol car, he started a pursuit event. One touch of L1 and we were in the event together, chasing after a group of racers...
4w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements went hands-on today with Infamous Second Son on PlayStation 4.
Below are the details, to quote: Things don't go as planned for Delsin Rowe, the smug but likeable hero of Infamous Second Son. Following the catastrophic events that shook the world in the first two games, Delsin's super-powered status as a Conduit is laid bare after exposure to other superhumans.
Delsin can absorb the powers of others, and then employ them for his own devices. He has serious potential, and that immense potential was on display during the PS4 launch event here in New York City this week.
This third-person, superhero action game already looks electric running on PS4, with fluid animations and sharp bursts of light around every rain-soaked corner.
At the event, we join Delsin and his cop brother Reggie as they attempt to pass through a Department of Unified Protection (DUP) security checkpoint. Their dark, menacing uniforms stand in stark contrast with the bright yellows of warning signs that litter the scene.
But unfortunately for Delsin, things don't go as planned.
Sure enough, Delsin's spectacular abilities trigger an automated warning at the checkpoint, and the DUP descends upon him with rifles ready. This is where the first...
4w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill is here with a hands-on look at Diablo III (and Reaper of Souls) on PlayStation 4 below!
To quote: I'm here in Anaheim for Blizzcon 2013, and as anyone who knows me might have guessed, the first thing I did when I got here was make a beeline for the Diablo III booth to get some hands-on time with its in-development PS4 version.
Let's get the obvious stuff out of the way first: Diablo III looks good on PS4. The demo I played didn't stutter or hitch once - the PS4 version runs at 1080p and 60FPS or better throughout, as confirmed by Production Director John Hight when I spoke with him on the show floor.
Everything looks tack-sharp, and plenty of extra bits have been added or tweaked in Diablo III's PS4 version. Just wait 'til you see the glow of a freshly dropped health globe reflected in a pool of stagnant water.
Diablo III's DualShock 4 controls are still being tweaked and perfected, but the touchpad implementation today was largely gesture-based, swiping left and right to switch to different inventory and skill subsections. It's pretty hard to improve on the perfection of Diablo III's radial menus as they are on PS3, but DualShock 4′s touchpad makes for a suitable change of...
5w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman announced details and a fresh trailer today for the Killzone Shadow Fall PS4 Multiplayer campaign!
To quote: Official Killzone Shadow Fall Game Page
It's been 30-odd years since the events of Killzone 3, and my, how things have changed. The fearsome Helghast are now refugees, their homeworld annihilated in a nuclear firestorm. In a desperate bid for survival, the surviving Helghast emigrate to an idyllic planet controlled by their mortal enemies, the ISA.
Unrest simmers, leading to the construction of a vast security wall intended to separate the Vektan haves from the Helghast have-nots. A long, fragile peace is shattered following a terrorist strike (seen in Killzone Shadow Fall's February 20th at PS4's debut conference), prompting the ISA leadership to bring out the big guns. That'd be you, elite Shadow Marshal operative Lucas Kellan. Your mission is simple: Restore order at any cost.
Launch game or no, Killzone Shadow Fall's campaign is a visual stunner on PS4, rendering a smorgasbord of reflections, dynamic lighting, and billowing smoke at a razor-sharp 1080p native resolution (1920 x 1080). It's as if developer Guerrilla Games wanted to cast off every...
