300°
2w ago - Following up on Sony's official announcement and recent hints of PS4 System Software Update 2.00, today PlayStation 4 hacker nas stated the upcoming PS4 Firmware 2.00 Update will fix a potentially useful Webkit bug for developers although it's not related to the recent Nintendo Wii U Browser Exploit.

Below are the details, to quote: PS4 FW 2.00 will fix Webkit Bug

The upcoming firmware update for PS4 will fix a "useful" bug in Sony's browser. Useful as in "useful for people who have some x64 reversing skills".

Muchas gracias to Proxima

Yes, its not related to the bug used to exploit the Wii U.

Finally, from Zecoxao: my best guess will be that everyone will be looking for said bug now, seeing as they can downgrade if they have the dump from previous firmwares.

PS4 Group Messaging Bug Could Corrupt Consoles, Possible Fixes

400°
32w ago - Today nyteryder79 shared news on a PS4 Group Messaging Bug that could corrupt PlayStation 4 consoles alongside some possible PS4 fixes below, as follows:

PSA: Avoid group messaging on your PS4. There is a bug on the PSN side. This bug ended up corrupting my PS4 and I had to reinitialize and redownload everything!

So, 4 of my buddies and I were in a group chat that we've been using since the release of the PS4 in the U.S. We would post screenshots and just general chat. Then for some unknown reason, I couldn't add any more messages to the chat session; I also couldn't delete it, contribute to it in any way or change it's title.

The next day, I couldn't send or receive any messages from anyone, including party invites in CoD, party invites on PS4, etc. I would get the notification, but the new messages wouldn't appear in my message list. The PlayStation app could see the messages, but I couldn't do anything with them there either. When I tried, I got error messages when I tried to submit a response, delete it, etc.

After about an hour of gaming, my PS4 switched to a blue screen and started to rebuild the database, which took about an hour. When it was finished, it said my database was corrupt.

So, I turned the PS4 off, booted into safe mode and attempted...

PlayStation 4 Bricking Reports, PS4 Launch Errors List and Fixes Out

750°
41w ago - Following up on the previous PS4 RLOD and PS4 Freezing & Overheating reports, today a new batch of PlayStation 4 bricking (such as [Register or Login to view links] one) and failures has surfaced alongside a PS4 Launch Errors List and Fixes below.

To quote: Here's a list of issues plaguing the PlayStation 4 at launch, and how to fix them.

Astro A50s: Cannot Hear Other People Speaking

Everything appears to be hunky-dory with the Astro A50s, with the sound coming through the headphones just as you would expect, except for received chat audio. You can talk through the headset, but you can't hear others speaking.

A possible fix for this issue is to do the following:

1. Hold Home Button
2. Adjust Devices
3. Output to headphones -> All Audio

DualShock 4 R1 Button Sticking

There are several reports that units of the DualShock 4 appear to sport defective R1 buttons. After just a few hours of play, the R1 button seems to stick.
