Video: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 PS4 Video Developer Walkthrough

100°
17w ago - Beenox Creative Director Thomas Wilson shared a PS4 Developer walkthrough video spotlighting The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 4 below today.

To quote: Since taking over as stewards of the Spider-Man console gaming franchise, we've seized the opportunity to explore new territory with each game release.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on PS3 and PS4 created a great opportunity to build and improve on something rather than starting from a blank slate. The gameplay walkthrough we've prepared for you today shows off some of the ways we've gone about doing that, but I'd also like to briefly flesh out some of those details with a little more context.

The new mechanics of web-swinging are more than just a visual tick, and that's why we often start off pointing them out. Controlling separate sides of Spider-Man with separate sides of your brain has a great psychological effect, and it really immerses you even deeper into your character, particularly when you have to decide to use the right or left trigger based on the physical location of buildings as you swing through the city.

Your cell phone is more than just a glorified menu and map - it's also how you gauge your progress as New York's guardian arachnid....

Video: NBA 2K14 PS4 Developer Diary: MyCAREER on PlayStation 4

33w ago - 2K Games Senior Community Manager Ronnie Singh posted up a video today showcasing NBA 2K14 as part of their PS4 Developer Diary dubbed MyCAREER on PlayStation 4.

To quote: MyCAREER has been one of NBA 2K14's most-played modes. The question is, with the next generation of technology, how do we create a fresh experience beyond playing games on the court? Creating a new cinematic experience that rivals a Hollywood film - that's how!

With over 300 pages of script, MyCAREER on PS4 takes you on an emotional journey like you've never experienced before. Our goal was to place you IN the game. From competing on the court, to decisions you make off the court, the experience has been expanded in an immersive journey through next gen technology.

For example, early on you may not get the minutes you want as a rookie. As your team calls a timeout, you have a decision to make - remain sitting or get up and celebrate with your teammates. Each decision affects the way you are viewed both from your team's viewpoint and the way fans look at you. This is just one of many deep decisions you make, with your actions opening up hours and hours of completely new content both on and off the court.

Things like personality, choosing...

100°
43w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements revealed some PS4 and DualShock 4 secrets is a Thief developer Q&A session below.

To quote: With the power of shadows at his beck and call, master thief Garrett returns to PS3 and PS4 in 2014 with a new bag of tricks.

The well-loved stealth series has always empowered gamers with a broad array of in-game choices, whether it was using lethal or nonlethal tactics to drop nosy guards, or leveraging magic and technology to overcome adversity. The upcoming Thief is no exception.

In order to learn more about Thief's stealth systems, storytelling, and PS4 benefits, we turned to Producer Stephane Roy. He shared some incredible insight into Thief's design process, and even sheds new light on how DualShock 4 will empower PS4 thieves.

So let's see what Garrett's gotten himself into this time...

PlayStation.Blog: While developing for both PS3 and PS4, do you have any predictions for what's possible on PS4 that isn't possible on PS3?

Stephane Roy: There are multiple components to this question; an AI component, an audio component, an art component. It's very important for us to immerse players in our universe.

We want to make sure players really feel like they're Garrett, that they're...

Video: Warframe on PS4 Details, PlayStation 4 Developer Q&A Out

50°
44w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements is here with a video today detailing Warframe on PS4 alongside a PlayStation 4 developer Q&A below.

To quote: When you read the word "ninja," what comes to mind? Exotic weaponry? Stealth and cunning? How about space-faring exo-armor and earth-shaking spells?

These images all fit perfectly into Warframe, a fast-paced, third-person action game launching with PS4 on November 15th.

We wanted to know more about this free-to-play, multiplayer suite, so we sent some questions over to Digital Extremes to get a better grasp on the world of Warframe.

Associate Producer Pat Kudirka took time out of his busy schedule to answer our inquiries, which we've listed below for your reading pleasure.

PlayStation.Blog: How would you describe Warframe to a newcomer in a single sentence?

Pat Kudirka: Space ninjas.

PSB: How has the team responded to working with PS4? What sort of opportunities, and challenges, come with the new platform?

Kudirka: Warframe is an original, self-published title from Digital Extremes. On previous titles we've always had a publisher, which was required to ship titles...

Sony PlayStation 4 Development Unit / PS4 Dev Kit is Unveiled

550°
53w ago - Recently we reported on a Sony DUH-D1000AA PS4 Dev Kit FCC filing, and now Gizmodo (linked above) has made available a picture of what a PlayStation 4 development unit looks like.

Below are the details, to quote: "The cat may already be out of the bag, but for many months we didn't know what the PS4 looked like.

Now, we know what the retail version will look, but what about the developer box Sony hid during the big reveal and on Jimmy Fallon? Well, here's an exclusive image we've acquired of some developer boxes that were used at E3.

Like any PC you'd build yourself, the guts are what actually matter and in the case of game consoles, the developer units typically just hide final console design. They're never really that attractive, which is the exact opposite of what we'll be seeing this holiday season."
