139w ago - Update: VGN365.com has now clarified that the ChromeClientPOSIX discovery was referring to the browser chrome not 'Google Chrome' the Web browser, and concludes that Google Chrome is not likely coming to the PS3 entertainment system after all.
According to Dutch site PS3Life.nl (linked above), Sony's PS3 entertainment system may soon be getting the popular Google Chrome Web browser despite Google responding that they have nothing to announce at this time.
Additionally, a job listing implies that Sony is indeed hiring a developer to work with Google Chrome's Engine.
To quote, roughly translated: Sony has a Webkit source for their PS3 Web browser and can be found here (with a test page now added here).
Here you can see several things that Sony has updated on March 31 for pilot testing. A forum user NeoGaf the forum was, incidentally, to the bored and a look in the ps3-webkit-support.diff...
231w ago - Despite top industry sources reporting that a PS3 price drop is coming, Sony's CEO Howard Stringer continues to brush brushed off concerns that the PlayStation 3 video game console is too expensive.
To quote: Stringer described recent comments about PlayStation's price by Robert Kotick, the CEO of video game publisher Activision Blizzard Inc, as standard business tactics.
"He likes to make a lot of noise," Stringer said, when asked about the comments. "He's putting pressure on me and I'm putting pressure on him. That's the nature of business."
Last month, Kotick told the Times of London that Activision might cease developing games for the PlayStation if Sony did not cut the price of the console, which competes with Microsoft Corp's Xbox and Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii.
"When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console," Kotick had said.
Asked about the logic of not cutting prices, Stringer said, "I (would) lose money on every PlayStation I make - how's that for logic."
232w ago - Although it probably isn't necessary, adding to Ars Technica's recent PS3 Slim confirmation comes yet another... this time from PSM3 Magazine.
TechRadar recently asked a number of PlayStation magazine editors and games industry analysts for their own views on the matter, to quote:
"The PS3 Slim is a certainty," said PSM3 magazine editor, Dan Dawkins, in no uncertain terms.
Following the PS3 Slim rumors reaching fever pitch earlier this month, TechRadar cannot help but wonder if the PlayStation mag editor perhaps knows something that we don't?
"Given the similarity of the leaked packaging to the official PSP Go box, the PS2 Slim's historical precedent, plus the latest round of manufacturer gossip - but the July release date sounds dubious," Dawkins adds.
