99w ago - Sorry for being quiet the last few days guys, but I'm still working on things for AC1D CFW and also found some changes to newer PUPs so I have modded the source of KaKaRoToKS Fix_TAR to reflect this in the Fix TAR v3 PS3 homebrew application for Retail and Debug 4.0 Firmware.
126w ago - As a follow-up to the previousJaicraB JFW DH PS3 Custom Firmware videos came a video (below) by pdnked of a PS3 Slim Retail console running Rebug 3.66 Custom Firmware (which is actually PS3 OFW 3.66 with a few Debug files added) from Dospiedras1973 via Spanish site Elotrolado.
Dospiedras1973, EOL and user who has already managed to do the downgrade recently consoles INFECTUS using FAT for that necessary, has released a firmware that allows PS3 to version 3.66 with options debug a machine operative. Some clarifications are annotated by the developer:
153w ago - Following in the same direction as KaKaRoToKS PS3 Custom Firmware now utilizing PlayStation 3 PUP files, today Cyberskunk has updated PS3 Rebug Retail to Debug Firmware to 3.41E Beta v1.0.1.
From the official Rebug Site, to quote:
Rebug 3.41 1.0.1 Beta signed PUP is here..
INSTALL through XMB no jailbreak needed
UNINSTALL through XMB with Retail 3.41 update file
KNOWN BUG: When exiting from a BD/DVD or GAME when NOT in JB mode the PS3 will restart..
This only occurs when the PS3 is NOT jailbroken and NO data is lost when it happens.. I am trying to fix the issue now but thought that since it is a beta people that haven’t can at least preview Rebug and if the bug is too annoying simply update back to retail without losing any saves, game data, etc..
NOTE: It is recommended that users of the previous Rebug pack install DO NOT update with this as it will install the the annoying exit bug mentioned above.. If you have installed it and would like to return back to the pack install you will have to run the Retail 3.41 update first.. No data will be lost doing this..
158w ago - A few weeks back we saw a video of PS Downgrade in action, and today ANTONIOPS at Spanish site Elotrolado.net (linked above) has posted up some videos showing PS3 Debug Firmware v2.15 being installed via PSDowngrade on a 40GB Retail version 3.41 console followed by running a PS Store demo.
Normally PlayStation 3 service boxes require a proper downgrade PUP file, however, comparing the SHA1 hash of the released PUP confirms it contains nothing special (just the old 3.41) so there appears to be something 'interesting' taking place when downgrading via PS Downgrade.
To quote, roughly translated: The noise you hear when you turn on the PS3 is the reader who is half repaired.
The Debug firmware I've installed the firmware downgrade PSDowngrade 3.41 to 2.15 Debug.
At the moment can only run signed code, such as a PS Store demo.
291w ago - XVISTAMAN2005 has discovered a method HERE which allows Retail PS3 console owners to install PS3 Debug Firmware on them... however, before considering attempting this PS3 "HDD Swap" be sure to read below.
Upon following the instructions your retail PS3 console will update to a partial Debug/Test console. Partial is stated because upon doing it the PS3 will possess what is pictured below, specifically non-functioning Debug options.
Debug PKG files won't install, port 1000 is open but you can't connect to it, and the PS3 no longer plays Blu-ray movies. Additionally, the Sony SELF Check disc does not show under game while inserted, however it shows under the other menus as only a "Data Disc" like all burned discs do on retail (not Debug/Test) PS3 consoles.
The good news is it's possible to update to a higher retail Firmware which restores the Blu-ray movie playback functionality, however, the bad news is some...
