To quote: This Tool can decrypt and extract Playstation Vita, Playstation Portable or Playstation 3 retail pkg.

It uses the PSP/PS3 AES key that is used to decrypt and extract PSP/PS3 retail pkg. However, No longer can Playstation Vita PKG over beta/retail 1.00+ be decrypted and extracted with the PSP AES key.

I would like to give a big, big, big thanks to Mathieulh, Because I used his AES Engine to decrypt PS3 retail pkg, Without that it could have taken me way longer to make this tool.

Toggle QA PS3 PKG for Rebug Custom Firmware is Released

1350°
146w ago - Following up on their previous updates, this weekend Sony PlayStation 3 hackers Cyberskunk and evilsperm have released a Toggle QA PS3 PKG for Rebug Custom Firmware users.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

To quote: THIS SOFTWARE WRITES TO THE PS3 EEPROM - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

After having to QA a few PS3 in a row. Then installing a different firmware straight after, it was time to cut out the middleman.

Toggle QA will SET/RESET the QA Flag and Token on any 3.41 or 3.55 firmware that has lv1 mmap and lv2 peek and poke patches (which is most of them).

When you run the app it first detects if the PS3 is 3.41 or 3.55. Next it will check if your firmware has any of the required lv1 patches already and only patch the hypervisor with the ones you need. After it finishes patching Toggle QA will check the status of the QA Flag and SET/RESET it accordingly. Then once the QA SET/RESET is done any lv1 patches made will be removed.

HOW TO USE:

1: Install toggle_qa.pkg
2: Run Toggle QA from XMB
3: PS3 will beep and return to XMB. (If you do not hear a beep it has not worked)

They Do Not Die 2 v0.5 PS3 Homebrew Game PKG is Released

158w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer ThatOtherDev has updated his PS3 homebrew game to They Do Not Die 2 v0.5 with the changelog detailed below.

To quote: Here is another update to They Do Not Die 2.

I had added corpses and blood but I’ve removed them because I don’t know how to make them fade away progressively and I find it extremely distracting seeing them just disappear instantly (for performance reasons there needs to be a limit on how many can exist at any given time).

If anyone knows how to go about doing that I would greatly appreciate an example of it. Basically what I’m looking for is the PSL1GHT equivalent of glColor4f. I assume the answer involves shaders which I am sadly fairly ignorant about making and using.

Notable changes:

  • Added two player co-op play (shared screen).
  • There are now cars and boxes scattered around the city.
  • Data is stored more efficiently in game saves and as a result of that saving and loading is faster.
  • The shotgun is more powerful.

PS3 controls:

  • Left analog stick = Move
  • Right analog stick = Aim
  • L1 = Fire the...

PSGroove Payload Update: Decrypt PKGs from PUP Files Possible

202w ago - As a follow-up to his PS3 Hypervisor Reverse Engineering Progress report, today graf_chokolo has published on xorloser's blog (linked above) his updated PSGroove payload which now allows for decrypting PKGs from PS3 PUP files.

To quote: "So guys, I promised to you that I will made my PSGroove payload public.

I just uploaded it to github. Let me first explain how it works. I do not have much free time, so please do not expect me to explain every detail to you. The target group of this release are advanced programmers among you. The source code is not commented but it's clean, well structured and self-explaining.

My payload has 2 stages. The 1st stage is actually a PSGroove payload. It initializes the gelic device and allocates memory needed for the 2nd stage. Just compile the 1st stage binary, convert it to C hex array and replace the PSGroove payload.

The 2nd stage does the real job, e.g. decrypts a CORE_OS_PACKAGE.pkg from a PUP file, runs some isolated SPU module or dumps...
