66w ago - Hi sceners, today I have a nice little preview video for you of a new alphabetical sort XMB hack for AC1D CFW.

You may ask now what's the diff to bahamuloard's txt editing one? Well you will see in the video but I'll also explain it here. First his one is a txt edit where mostly on the PS3 txt files are reflections of definitions not real definition files.

Then he edits 3 definitions and the PS3 for sure will rewrite minimum 2 off them and in most case she overwrite all 3. I needed hours of tries to get it only for one time working and even then it doesn't worked for the ALL mode in the game category.

So this hack is real and work for all three modes: Format, Tags and All. Also it works for the other categories like Video or Photo.

I hope for a Beta release of AC1D CFW within the next 1 or two weeks. I'm still working on the convert of Retail 2 Debug consoles and also on the PS3 3.6+ game support. And now enjoy the video and stay tuned.

117w ago - Update: Today WirelessGoodness.com has spotted the new PS3 model CECH-3001A/B via the FCC site further confirming the previous report.

The new PlayStation 3 slim model will cut power consumption from 230W to 200W and weigh in at 2.6kg down from 3.0kg, however, it will not include PS2 compatibility.

According to StingyGamer.com Sony is preparing a sizeable PS3 price drop soon which will coincide with Nintendo's 3DS console release in March (although IndustryGamers.com states Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter predicts June) followed by a new hack-proof PlayStation 3 console in development.

Here is what I call PS3 Acid CFW, an XMB custom firmware XML hack pack for the PlayStation 3 console.

I spend the last days in playing around with PS3 FW files and have modified some of them and hopefully unlocked nearly ALL Debug options.

I mainly have edited the RCO's and their XML's. It's phenomenal what can be done with a simple XML file.

The Wii works on the same way, but anyway we can change the whole XMB via the XML's. It was a childs play to add some paths from one XML to another and add additional download paths for contents that before was only download able into one path. (eg PS3HDD or PS3 only games).

In my country nearly all chips that can be used to make a PSGroove are sold out. I still have some ATmega8 chips at home but I need to modify the source to get the thing running.

The LUFA software USB LIB doesn't support ATmega8 so...

152w ago - Yesterday some videos were posted of GeoHot's iPad, iPhone, iPod coverage from Nuit Du Hack in Paris, and today we have some videos and a slideshow (PDF) of the PS3 hacks segment from the conference courtesy of malow82.

Forum user xrayglasses attended one of GeoHot's scheduled conferences, and stated the following to quote:

"He's booking for talks at 3 cons, I only got to see the one he just did in France. He's labeling his talks around PlayStation 3 security, and when he comes on basically talks about i-products for two hours with a mention of PS3 in the last 10 minutes, literally in the same details as his blog.

In videos of it on youtube, you can hear people there laughing when he integrates his ego into his talk. I don't think he realizes what a small fish he is in the RE community.
