Exeo Entertainment Extreme Gamer XG 10 Disc Changer Unveiled

200°
80w ago - At this year's [Register or Login to view links] a company called [Register or Login to view links] announced news of what they call the Extreme Gamer XG 10 Disc Changer for streaming video games on PS3, XBox 360 and the Nintendo Wii consoles.

Below are some additional details, to quote: "Physical media might lend itself well to the used games market (well, usually), but it does have a distinct disadvantage over digital purchases: you still have to get up and change that disc.

It's a minor annoyance, but apparently enough of one to spark the creation of the Exeo Entertainment Extreme Gamer XG 10, an Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 compatible game jukebox with room for ten retail titles. Unlike other Xbox 360 disc changers, however, this one won't void your warranty.

According to Exeo Entertainment, the Extreme Gamer pipes disc data to the console through USB or ethernet ports. The operation sounds a little fishy, but Exeo Entertainment assured us the device is on the up and up - console makers allow it to function because the data is processed on the console itself.

It's a neat trick, but it does seem a little late, considering the stars of this year's E3. The company told us it's aware of this, and is already planning to build a next-gen...

Australian PS3 Gamer Loses OtherOS Lawsuit to Sony

550°
226w ago - While everyone awaits a verdict on the injunction in the recent PS JailBreak lawsuit hearing, another Australian PS3 gamer has lost his OtherOS lawsuit to Sony recently.

According to GamePron.com (linked above) Michael Trebilcock had asked for AU $800 in compensation (the cost to rent a laptop for each day he was unable to use Linux on his PS3, plus fees), with a claim that the updated console could no longer be used as a computer.

To quote: "Unfortunately for Trebilcock, the Magistrates court heard that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission cleared Sony of any wrongdoing regarding the upgrade, and the claim was dismissed.

Mr. Trebilcock was not made to pay Sony's legal costs."

Kojima Gauging Gamer Interest in Zone of the Enders 3 for PS3

100°
297w ago - Six years after the release of the last console game in the series, Hideo Kojima is talking Zone of the Enders.

Specifically, the Kojima Productions founder asks if gamers are really interested in a Zone of the Enders 3 during a [Register or Login to view links] of MGS4's in-game "Integral" podcast.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links], the second game in the series, was directed by MGS4 co-writer and director, Shuyo Murata, and remains a fan favorite in addition to a critical success; we're surprised it's taken Kojima this long to broach the topic of a sequel.

In closing out a discussion about the demand for a follow-up, Kojima and his podcasting partners ask gamers to [Register or Login to view links] if they'd be interested in seeing it happen.

Kojima-san, about your mail server... we're sorry about its imminent death under the weight of all those emails. Surely you can buy a new one with profits from ZOE 3?

Gamer opens up PS3 after a Year to see Dust Collection

50°
333w ago - What better way to celebrate your PS3 turning 1 year old than to open up the console, see what approximately 4000 hours of potential dust looks like, and then give it a clean! pumba512 did just that on the official PS boards (linked above).

To quote: So, my PS3 turned 1 not long ago.. so.. I decided to see what 1 year (about 4,000 hrs) of dust looks like in it, and to give it a clean.

This is a Aus 60gig, always been horizontal. (I have vacuumed the vents every week (give or take), and dust it off with a microfibre cloth almost religiously.. Never used compressed air on it)

It's home for starters (carpet floor).. So after that I have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought. But there was a lot of fine dust in it, and only a little bit of a clump under the fan on the cpu/gpu heatsink part, nothing but fine dust on the heatsink fins.

Bottom casing was very dusty (also found little bugs a mosquito..and a hair... yeah I dunno..) top of case was just as bad, under the Blue Ray drive was fairly bad (doesn't look like to much in the pics but I blew it without thinking to take pics)

The fan was covered in thick fine dust. Other things = screws on the fan were a little loose... I could move it around like 2mm.. (its pretty quiet now and doesn't vibe like it used to).. was...
