15h ago - Sony Product Manager Ken Chan posted up an exclusive video today spotlighting Gran Turismo 6 PS3 inviting GT fans to drive the BMW M4 Coupe.
To quote: GT fans! For those that are still waiting for the perfect reason to pick up Gran Turismo 6, we may have something for you.
Starting today, the newly announced BMW M4 Coupe is available for your virtual test drive in GT6, before the actual car goes on sale in 2014.
As a celebration of this collaboration between BMW and Gran Turismo 6, a unique seasonal event featuring the BMW M4 Coupe is available to all on GT6 for two weeks, from today until December 26th, 2013.
The BMW M4 Coupe Superlap challenge will take place on the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit, and gives players the opportunity to drive the car to complete the event, giving anyone the chance to experience this stunning new vehicle in the virtual world before it launches in the real world.
Until now, the BMW M4 Coupe has only been shown publicly as a 'concept', but thanks to an innovative collaboration with BMW, Polyphony Digital was able to get early access to the car during its development phase in order to meticulously recreate the BMW M4 Coupe for Gran Turismo 6.
3d ago - Sony Product Manager Ken Chan shared video footage today of talk show host Jay Leno taking Gran Turismo 6 on PS3 for a test drive.
To quote: Collector and auto expert Jay Leno took two cars from Gran Turismo 6 for test drives in the latest film episode of JayLenosGarage.com: his own 1000 horsepower Oldsmobile Toronado, and also the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept car designed especially for the game.
In addition to being one of the first to drive the Vision Gran Turismo in the game, Leno is the first person outside Mercedes-Benz to pilot the Vision GT concept car - which was revealed at the recent LA Auto Show - in real life, using a radio controller through his LA garage.
Mercedes-Benz brought the AMG Vision Gran Turismo to Jay's garage directly from the LA Show. The Vision is the first of a series of concept cars from various manufacturers made for Gran Turismo 6. But, so far, the only one to be turned into a real car. Leno said he thinks games are taking over in determining what cars achieve cult status.
"Video games are where cars will achieve cult status going forward and, like the Mercedes-Benz, where we will see cars make their debuts...
3w ago - Sony Product Manager Ken Chan posted up a video today inviting fans to be the first to drive the Mercedes AMG Vision GT in Gran Turismo 6 on PlayStation 3.
To quote: With two short weeks away from the launch of GT6, we are excited to unveil the first Vision GT project - the Mercedes- Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo, made specifically for everyone to virtually experience on 12/6.
Gran Turismo 6 players will soon be able to choose an alternative version of the virtual Mercedes-Benz super sports car. The "Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series" offers further enhancements over the regular show car which was presented as physical 1:1 model in California.
To ensure perfect downforce and great handling stability in tough racetrack conditions on PlayStation 3, the Racing Series has a fixed rear spoiler while the show car version has an extending variant of this integrated into the boot lid.
In addition, the third brake light in the middle of the rear end lights up in red as the Gran Turismo logo, unmistakably confirming the identity of the high-performance gullwing racer. Visitors of the LA Autoshow were the first to drive this car virtually in Gran Turismo 6 next to the 1:1 show car at the Mercedes-Benz booth.
5w ago - Following up on the initial release, today PS3 developer Mohammad Haseeb (aka M.H.A.Q.S.) has updated his homebrew application PKG he calls PlayStation 3 Cloud Drive to version 1.1.7 with details below.
It was at the end of last year that I posted this (blog.tabinda.net/misc/auto-save-hell-to-all-game-developers/). It really took me away from gaming on the ps3 for a while. Earlier this year, I searched for a ps3 app that would sync a user’s game-saves to the cloud. I didn’t care which service was it, as long as it was free and easy to use.
Unfortunately, apart from Sony’s PS Plus service, there was no application/home-brew that accomplished this task. But I did find this. A user named gingerbread on the ps3hax forums had this idea about a Dropbox app that could work like a game-save synchronization application for the PS3.
I decided to take a shot at it and although the development went slow for several reasons, I eventually finished the first set of features I planned for. The application is called PlayStation 3 - Cloud Drive. You can install this application on a ps3 running a custom firmware. This app is programmed using PSL1GHT (psl1ght.com) open source...
