13w ago - Today an online Sony patent has surfaced that outlines a method to award PS3 Trophies based on disc access, possibly to be used with the upcoming PlayStation 4 / PS4 console as well.
Below are the details, as follows: Called "Method and Apparatus for awarding trophies", the patent explains a way to award trophies, even for games that don't natively support them...
"A method and apparatus for adding trophy support games that do not have trophies without modifying the original game," the patent states.
"The method and apparatus are used to detect particular disk access, use the detected disk access as potential trophy triggers in games, and recognize the triggers while a game is played. Trophies are awarded based on the triggers, and the awarded trophies are stored."
The diagram below also gives an idea of how it works:
"A method for assigning one or more trophies to a user, comprising: accessing media content; defining one or more trophies; defining a trigger associated with the media content; detecting the trigger during media content access; and assigning the one or more trophies to a user account that is associated with the...
To quote: Finally I was able to find the time to port my dumpers on 4.21 CFW. There were some problems while porting from 3.55 to 4.xx and hopefully all of them were fixed.
These dumpers are not required to work with previous tool called Data Ddumper because they just write all data directly to the corresponding file on /dev_hdd0/tmp. All dumpers were tested on 4.21 REX and should works fine if you do the process correctly.
Example from KDSBest in REX 4.21:

34w ago - Sony DanceStar Content Manager Nina Scherer has announced today that the SingStar client is coming to the PlayStation 3 XMB meaning no disc will be required any longer!
To quote: I promised you exciting news, so here it is! SingStar, the ultimate competitive singing game for PlayStation 3, will now be available to everyone in SCE Europe territories (as well as Australia and New Zealand) as a free download straight from the XMB.
Yes, that's right, no more need to slot in a disc to get that party started. Simply install SingStar from the XMB and you will be able to start singing in no time, share your performances with the community and visit the SingStore to get hold of more great tracks for your collection.
I've listed all the great things about SingStar on the XMB for you below but I am most excited about the fact that you can now play SingStar with your PlayStation Eye camera.
We have spent many an afternoon testing this in the office and are pretty pleased with it so please let us know what you think! This will only work for single player mode, so if you're gearing up for a serious SingStar battle, you'll obviously still need to plug in some mics.
36w ago - Following up on the PS3 KLicense Brute-force Tool release, this weekend PlayStation 3 scene developer Flat_z has made available a PS3 Disc Key Dumper, Klicensee Dumper and corresponding Data Dumper with details outlined below.
The klicensee_dumper should speed up the gathering of klicensees. One of dumpers is an alternative to klicensee bruteforcer which released before because some klicensee keys cannot be bruteforced. Klicensee is used to resign/decrypt/encrypt self/sprx/edat.
As for the other dumper (for a disc key), I'm writing a tool to decrypt/encrypt saves and resign them for your console...
