37w ago - Following up on his previous release, this weekend PlayStation 3 developer IngPereira has made available PS2Classic Final with source code for playing PS2 Classic games on the PS3 entertainment system.
Step 1: Connect via FTP and get your dev_flash
Step 2: Move your dev_flash and the nXMB into a new folder (NOT THE CONTENTS, BUT THE DEV_FLASH ITSELF).
Step 3: Open nXMB and let it patch your dev_flash
Step 4: Copy the contents of that dev_flash to your USB Flash Disk
Step 5: Launch USB Firm Loader
The PS3 will mount your USB flash disk as dev_flash
You will NOT see "Install Package Files" but instead of that you will be able to boot PS1/PS2 games and you will have access to your memory cards!
220w ago - According to Edge Online (linked above), Sega has leaked a confidential document (removed now) of a meeting with SCEA held in August by accidently uploading it to their public FTP site.
Among other things, the document states a March 2010 release for Sony's new Motion Controller in Japan with the ambition of selling 4-5 million units world-wide. No Prices or Bundles are mentioned though, yet.
Furthermore, and for many of you maybe even more interesting, the document states that Sony wants to introduce a PS2 emulator for the PS3, allowing them to sell DreamCast games and "all PS2 titles on PSN".
Unfortunately it doesn't mention any further details or the possibility to play PS2 game discs.
To quote: We've contacted Sony and Sega for comment and have reprinted the document in question in its entirety below:

254w ago - Today D3M0N2009 shared a video from earlier this month courtesy of sonyk0 via YouTube.
The video from DemonHades demonstrates that PS3 40GB Service Mode consoles can actually play PS2 games, but the feature isn't unlocked for the retail counterparts to date.
As most suspect, Sony has been working on a PS2 software emulator for quite some time (since Firmware 2.5x), so the question is really when and how they will introduce it publically.. perhaps via PSN Store PS2 title updates, or just include it in a Firmware update, etc.
Those interested can check out the video below, enjoy!
261w ago - For the time being this is simply a rumor, however, French site JV247.com (linked above) is reporting that a game publisher told them Sony was planning to add PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility in a recent PlayStation 3 Firmware Update... but pulled it at the last minute.
They continue to mention that it may be added in a future update, and that we may see PlayStation 2 games on the PlayStation Store.
Adding fuel to the rumor is news that the original Medal of Honor and the ESRB-rated PlayStation 2 game "Rayman 2: Revolution" are slated for the PlayStation 3, which usually means they're going to pop up on the PlayStation Store at some point in the future.
As always, more details to come as they are available!
