Video: How Multiplayer Works in Frozen Synapse Prime on PS Vita

50°
5w ago - Double 11 Design Manager Gareth Wright shared a video today detailing how multiplayer works in Frozen Synapse Prime on PS Vita below.

To quote: Hey Folks, We're getting very close to the release of [Register or Login to view links], and I wanted to go over what is really the biggest aspect of the game - the online multiplayer.

Online multiplayer in Prime is both synchronous and asynchronous, as the game is hosted off Double Eleven's set of dedicated Amazon cloud servers.

In other words, two players can either play against each other at the same time when they both have a PS Vita in hand, or they can play it like chess by post, where turns can be taken minutes to days at a time. So you could quick-match against an online opponent now, or take a weekly turn against your friend if you're not able to meet at the same time to play.

The asynchronous multiplayer aspect allows you to have several games on the go at once, against friends and opponents around the world. The game alerts you when a turn has been made in one of your matches, and players can track and manage their matches via their...

8w ago - Reaper Creative Director Luc Bernard introduces Online Multiplayer Desert Ashes for PS Vita with details below.

To quote: Hey, fellow PS Vita and future [Register or Login to view links] owners. Luc Bernard here again, you may remember me close to E3 when I announced Reaper.

Now I'm here to announce a new title, which will be coming out this fall. The game is called Desert Ashes. It's a free-to-play, turn-based strategy with local and online multiplayer for PlayStation TV and PS Vita.

Let's first go through what will be available at launch:

• 3 single player campaigns
• Online PvPmultiplayer
• Local PvP multiplayer on PS TV

Now, a bit of information on the online multiplayer (the local is pretty straightforward - sit on the couch with your friend and play on your PlayStation TV). Now for the online multiplayer, once you've taken your turn you don't have to wait for your opponent to make his move if you're too busy doing other things.

For example, there are different timers you can set before you can declare victory on your opponent if they take too long. There will be 5 minutes, 20 minutes, 8 hours, and 24 hours. Also with the online multiplayer you can play on your Vita while you're out,...

New Killzone Mercenary PS Vita Updates Coming, Free Multiplayer Maps

200°
47w ago - Guerrilla Cambridge Senior Producer Mark Green shared details on new Killzone Mercenary PS Vita updates today alongside some free multiplayer maps below.

To quote: Hi Everyone. Amongst all the excitement for the launch of PS4 and, of course, Killzone Shadowfall, here at Guerrilla Cambridge we've still been busily working away on Killzone Mercenary. We're now very pleased to announce that there will be a number of updates coming over the next few months.

First up is Update 3. In terms of functionality there will only be minimal changes, but this is the patch that reduces the size of the other patches! After installing this patch it will free up around 800MB of space for those who have already installed Updates 1 & 2. Update 3 should be ready in the next few weeks.

Update 4 is due in January and is being designed to improve Matching and to help reduce join-game connectivity problems, as well as adding an auto team-rebalancing feature.

Following that is the big one: Update 5. Two new multiplayer maps for FREE, and the release of offline Botzone for Mercenary and Guerrilla Warfare modes.

Also in the first few months of 2014 will be Update 6, in which we're working towards continued refinements and adding support for playing Killzone Mercenary on Vita TV (only applicable...

Video: Killzone Mercenary on PS Vita: Week One Multiplayer Stats

50°
57w ago - Guerrilla Cambridge Senior Producer Mark Green posted up a fresh Killzone Mercenary PS Vita video today spotlighting the week one multiplayer stats below.

To quote: A week after Killzone Mercenary's launch, one of the great things to see is how so many different people play the game in so many different ways.

Looking at the stats I can see that the M82 and the silenced STA-52SE are the weapons of choice for a lot of people, each racking up 5M+ kills already, but digging deeper it's great to see that some of the other weapons are being wielded very effectively.

I'd expected my personal favourite - the STA-14 - to be topping the headshot charts, but it's actually being pipped at the post by the up close and personal touch of the silenced STA-18SE.

It seems there are a lot of you out there who really don't want to show up on the radar! No doubt those people have already bought the Infiltrator Armour as well.

If you want to check out some of the stats for yourself then take at looks at Blackjack's on the official [Register or Login to view links].

If you're already playing, then I hope you like watching what's...

61w ago - Guerrilla Cambridge Senior Producer Mark Green outlined how to survive the Killzone: Mercenary Multiplayer PlayStation Vita Beta below today.

To quote: We're just a few weeks away from the launch of Killzone: Mercenary, but gamers won't have to wait that long to cut their teeth on Mercenary's impressive multiplayer suite.

The team here at Guerrilla Cambridge is expanding the multiplayer beta to give the servers a good test before Mercenary launches on September 10th in North America for PS Vita.

For North American users, the Open Beta for Killzone: Mercenary will be made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers on August 20th (after the Store update). Those of you who went out of your way to acquire special beta access vouchers - Perhaps through a certain promotion on PS Home? - will also be granted early access!

Then, on August 27th (after the Store update), the beta will open up further to become available to all North American PS Vita owners, coming to a close on September 3rd.
