PyMenu v0.4 in Development for PS Vita eCFW, Details Arrive

250°
14w ago - Today some details and pictures have arrived on PyMenu v0.4 which is in development for PS Vita eCFW, as outlined below to quote:

Download: pyMenu v0.3.1 for CEF / pyMenu v0.3.1 for VHBL

One of the most widely used menus for eCFW on the PS Vita is about to receive a full update, lots of new features, improved code, optimizations, and much more will come with pyMenu 0.4 and you’re about to see what it can offer, but first we’ll do a walkthrough of all the version pyMenu has had and how it has evolved from being a very simplistic menu, to a full fledged XMB replacement.

pyMenu 0.1: The beginning

pyMenu was created in June 2012 as an entry to the VHBL Menu Contest and competed against yMenu (which was also created for that contest). Most of the work in pyMenu had gone to installing the pspsdk and modifying the python interpreter to be able to load homebrews in VHBL.

The little time I had and the time the SDK + interpreter consumed left me with very little time for the actual menu. pyMenu was a pioneer in...

Video: Virtuous Flame Introduces PlayStation Vita eCFW ARK Demo

250°
25w ago - Today Sony PS Vita hacker wololo shared a video from Virtuous Flame who introduces PlayStation Vita eCFW ARK in a demonstration presentation courtesy of Structures360 via YouTube below.

To quote: Developer Virtuous Flame, the dev behind many projects including the recent Open CMA, just recently revealed some information on Chinese scene site duowan.com about a kernel exploit and Vita eCFW (a Custom Firmware running on the Vita within the PSP emulator) he's been working on, dubbed ARK.

Virtuous Flame revealed that he has access to another working kernel exploit other than that of Frostegater's, working on 2.02 and running his own version of a eCFW. This is extremely good news considering kernel exploits in the psp emu can be hard to come by, it's always good to have more.

Virtuous Flame's eCFW ARK is something similar to that of Total_Noob's CEF. Virtuous Flame is already hard at work on a new eCFW Ark through a new kernel exploit, on the latest Vita 2.02 official firmware update.

ARK along with this exploit has some advantages compared to TN-C such as a neat feature of being able to instantly go into loading into the eCFW ISO menu instead of having to load the save data (note: this is most likely a feature of the game used for the exploit rather than...

Video: PS Vita Running PSX / PS1 Games with eCFW TN-C Demo

550°
27w ago - Following up on their previous update, today The_Z has shared a PlayStation Vita demo video and guide on running PSX / PS1 games at full speed (with no sound) via eCFW TN-C on Sony PS Vita Firmware 2.01 below.

Download: PSX Add-on for eCFW 6.60 TN-C / PSX Add-on for eCFW 6.60 TN-C (Mirror)

To quote: In this video I show you that its possible to run PS1 games at the TN-C CFW. This is also working at the lower firmwares, you don't need the upcoming 2.01 exploit for it.

Just put the 2 PRX files into your exploit savegame folder and PSX (PS1) games should be working from the TNMenu. Other menues arent tested yet.

This should be working with every TN-C release for the PS Vita. The PS Vitas OFW shouldnt be important, it should be working for 1.6x, 1.80, 1.81 and 2.0x firmwares (avaible soon).

Greetings The Z

Video: PS Vita eCFW TN-C Running on Firmware 2.01 Demo Arrives

550°
28w ago - Following up on PS Vita Firmware v2.01 release and Half Byte Loader news, today wololo has posted a video of eCFW 6.60 TN-C from The_Z running on PS Vita System Software version 2.01 with details below.

From his blog: The_Z shows us some more work from Frostegater, who is in possession of a PS Kernel exploit and was able to port Total_Noob’s CEF (a PSP custom firmware running in the PSP emulator of the Vita.

The video shows the Vita running an iso of K-On, as well as PSP Filer, and gPSP, the GameBoy advance emulator.

For some of you this is old news (we already mentioned Frostegater has a PSP Kernel exploit), and I’m sure we’ll see a share of complaints in the form of “if you show it, release it”, but hey, this shows that a PSP CFW inside of the Vita on the latest firmware is still possible, and hope is good, I guess.

So what about a release date? Well this is where it gets tricky. Frostegater does plan to release his work, but his Vita was stolen so he cannot make efficient progress on the work. As you will see in the video, him and The_Z are trying...

TN-C eCFW for PlayStation Vita by Total_Noob is Now Available

1300°
30w ago - Following up on the PlayStation Vita TN-B Urbanix and Mad Blocker Alpha and Gravity Crash releases, this weekend Total_Noob has released TN-C eCFW for PS Vita handheld console owners with details below.

To quote: Developer Total_Noob has released TN-C eCFW with a huge list of improvements including compatibility for the Motorstorm and Super Collapse exploits. TN-C has also now become open source. Keep reading!

The long awaited and highly anticipated update to TNmenu by developer Total_Noob for all exploits is finally here, bringing a substantial update to just about everything. With TN-C Total_Noob has added compatibility for those still holding out on the Motorstorm and Super Collapse 3 exploits; something he was testing a while back.

TN has also made this release open source which means other developers will be able to build and add new features to TN-C. With this release Total_Noob also released a statement that this will be most likely his last release. It’s very sad news; we can only say thanks and best wishes in your future endeavors.
