21w ago - Today Japanese PlayStation Vita hackers 173210 and Nakkan0835 shared pictures and a demo video of a hacked PS Vita TV running TotalNoob's upcoming TN-v4 VHBL exploit on PlayStation Vita TV below.

From the video's caption: This video shows 173210's VHBL is working on PS Vita TV. The savedata directory name is fake. Don't worry

If you have read my Vita TV review (and if you haven't, do it now!), you know I have been hugely disappointed by the device so far, mostly because of the poor level of its game compatibility and services offer.

Mathieulh, of ps3 and psp hacking fame (remember pandora batteries?), happens to both be a beta tester of TotalNoob's upcoming TN-v4, and to own one of the Japan-only Vita TVs. He was successfully able to run TN-V on his vita TV, now making the device much more interesting to my eyes.

TN-V is a...

PSP Usermode Exploit (Up to 2.61) for Half Minute Hero on PS Vita Out

500°
23w ago - Following up on the previous exploits for PS Vita Firmware 2.61, today PlayStation Vita developer Yosh (aka wth) released another PSP Usermode 2.61 exploit for Half Minute Hero with details below.

Download: Half-Minute_Hero.zip (Half Minute Hero VHBL <3.00)

To quote: PSVita Official Firmware 3.00 was a major update and it has been discovered that a LOT of game exploits were patched (around 20) so many developers whose private exploits got patched are releasing them for earlier firmwares. Frostegater has already released two: Pipe Madness and Fieldrunners. This time, it’s Yosh aka wth on the /talk forums with Half Minute Hero.

In his post on the /talk forums, Yosh says: “Hey guys, with PSVita 3.00 firmware update were apparently quite several exploits (include private ones too) patched, including the private exploit of mine I’ve been using since Everybody’s Tennis was published and fixed.

Indeed Zer01ne used his Uno exploit until it got...

250°
23w ago - Following up on the release of PS Vita Firmware 3.00, today some video footage of a VHBL and Hello World for PS Vita FW 3.00 appeared alongside a PlayStation Vita 2.61 Firmware VHBL Exploit by Frostegater with details below.

Download: PSVita_261VHBL_Fieldrunners_EU.zip (VHBL r162 For firmware 2.61 Fieldrunners - EU Version - 1.3 MB) / VHBL r158 v2 For firmware 2.61 Fieldrunners (EU version) / VHBL r158 v2 For firmware 2.61 Fieldrunners (US version)

To quote from Acid_Snake via Wololo: The game exploits patched by Vita FW 3.00, and how this will impact future VHBL/TN-V releases

You may have heard of different naughty surprises that came with firmware 3.00, and you may ask what the hell this has to do with me? you may also wonder about the future of VHBL and TN-V4, I’m gonna tap on that here, but I’m also gonna explain why I think Sony has made a huge dumb mistake.

What happened?

VHBL for PS Vita 2.61, Uses Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban

500°
26w ago - Following up on the previous updates, today PSP developer 173210 has released VHBL for PlayStation Vita 2.61 Firmware users, which uses an exploit in the Japanese title Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban.

Download: VHBL For Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban JP (initial release, 2013/10/16 - vhbl261.zip) / Sources JP (initial release, 2013/10/16 - Password: B8iEUNgDcjLImQFDqxBd)

To quote: As I type this, I believe the exploited game for this release, Jikkyu Powerful Pro Yakyu 2012 Ketteiban, is still available on the JP PSN store. The Game is fairly expensive and probably didn’t attract so much attention. If you really want to run emulators on your Vita, it might still be possible for you to get that game.

VHBL is a homebrew loader running inside the PSP emulator on the Playstation Vita. It lets you run PSP homebrews, including several emulators (SNES, NES, GBA, etc...), but will not let you run PSP isos, let alone pirate PS vita games.

Many thanks go to developer 173210 for his work on his exploit,...

Video: PlayStation Vita 2.12 VHBL Exploit By Qwikrazor87 Incoming

350°
43w ago - Today a video was posted demonstrating an incoming PlayStation Vita 2.12 Firmware VHBL exploit (which currently runs through a yet undisclosed PS Vita game) by qwikrazor87 with details below.

To quote: Some of you might have thought that we decided to not be a blog dedicated to hacking, given how slow the hacking news have been recently for the Vita. There was of course the hope of a VHBL port from The Z, but that was a while ago, and he is still waiting for a "significant firmware update" from Sony before releasing his work.

But fear not, as developer qwikrazor87 contacted me with his own VHBL port, which will be released as soon as it is fully tested!

Now, this exploit comes with some limitations. First, as is often the case, we are talking here of a usermode exploit running VHBL inside the PSP emulator of the Vita. This means you'll be able to play a vast majority of PSP homebrews on your vita (including emulators), but this will not let you play PSP isos (which would require a new Kernel exploit, the last public one was in firmware 2.02), let alone Vita isos (no public method exists for this, at all, so don't ask).

Secondly, and this might annoy...
