135w ago - Just over a week ago testing commenced on the official PS JailBreak Backup Manager v1.1 for PS3, and today Smeemi reports that it is now available from the PSJailBreak Team.

While the file on their official downloads page (psjailbreak.com/downloads) is still named "manager.pkg" as the old version at the moment, it does display v1.1 on the screen and offers discless booting (press SQUARE when booting a game) and reportedly features improved PS3 game compatibility.

137w ago - The members over at the Spanish forums Elotrolado.net (linked above) state that they have been testing the new official PS JailBreak Backup Manager v1.1 for PS3 and have the following feedback thus far, to quote:

"I am currently trying the new Backup Manager v1.1 now.

• Works with current clones.
• Current Backed up/Ripped games with version 1.0 do not work. We must re-do the ripping via version v1.1

137w ago - Previously it was reported that PSGroove improvements would soon allow it to support all PS3 Firmware versions, and today the official PS JailBreak site reports that they also plan to support all PS3 Firmware versions and that PS3 Backup Manager v1.1 is destined to arrive shortly after October 20th and include some new features.

To quote: "We have now shipped all our loyal dealers and we assure you, the wait has been worthwhile. We apologize for the delay of the support we promised, but it is indeed coming.

We will officially be releasing our support for new firmwares by October 20th, and Backup Manager v1.1 a few days after. It will have all the features that clone makers have been providing, along with some new ones that will blow you all away.

As mentioned in previous news updates, we are still receiving large amounts of mail about our high price compared to our competition, so we will reiterate. Clones are low quality, have high defect rates and will only work on firmware 3.41.

139w ago - Yesterday Hermes released a modified PSGroove version for running PS3 backups without a disc in the drive, and today Ulmez on Elotrolado.net (linked above) has updated the installer to PS3 JailBreak Backup Manager 2 along with a Compatible Games list (below).

This Backup Manager lets /bdvd link to app_home/PS3_GAME so to load your PS3 game backup with this manager will need to have one of the Hermes hex codes on your device. To install it just overwrite the existing one, you do not have to delete the currently installed Backup Manager.

Once you have Jailbroken your PS3 you can launch the backup manager. Select the game you want to load and press X. It should then drop you back to the XMB. Now select app_home/PS3_GAME and press X. If all went well your game should load without a disc in the drive.

Not all games are work yet with Backup Manager 2 without a game disc in the drive, with an internal or external hard disk drive, so in the PS3 JailBreak Game Compatibility List add "Backup...
