5d ago - Sony Product Planning and Software Innovation Director Scott McCarthy shared a preview of PS4 System Software 2.00 today, which features a USB Music Player, new Home Screen colors and more with screenshots and details below!

To quote: You may already know that PS4's upcoming system software 2.00, codenamed Masamune, adds some big features including Share Play, YouTube support, and Themes - but the updates don't end there.

I have personally stated in past blog posts that we listen to our fans. PlayStation has heard gamers when they say they want more ways to find friends to play with, and more ways to personalize their PS4.

With this update, we've added a Players You May Know tile, the ability to listen to your music while gaming, the option to change the look of your PS4 experience, and easier ways to sort and filter your library of content on PS4.

130w ago - Sony PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Manager Cade Peterson has revealed PlayStation Home 1.65 Client update details today, including beats by Dr. Dre, new x7 exclusives and more outlined below.

To quote: This Wednesday, April 25th, PlayStation Home gets an exciting core client update to version 1.65, the gorgeous Island Bungalow Personal Space releases to the public, beats by Dr. Dre arrive, new x7 exclusive early-access items release (and another freebie!), Konami releases more Secret Agent items, Juggernaut releases a down-to-earth companion, more Granzella Samurai items, and more! (Whew! This is a big week)

Let me get to the biggest news of the week--PlayStation Home gets an exciting new core client update. With it come a bunch of new features and improvements, including:

• A new simplified Menu Screen
• Furniture slot memory adjustments and enhanced visual display of available memory use
• A new Voice Chat system
• Alerts are now integrated better

150w ago - Sony Community Manager Locust_Star has announced today that PlayStation Home update patch version 1.60 will be arriving this Thursday with details below, as follows:

This Thursday, December 8th, we will release the latest update to the PlayStation Home client.

PlayStation Home version 1.60 delivers a wealth of improvements and updates to the core client, not the least of which is a doubling of the item placement limit in personal spaces!

How to Apply the v1.60 Patch

If you are upgrading from an old version of Home (v1.40 or earlier) then when you attempt to apply the v1.60 patch please wait for the orange "hard drive activity" light to stop flashing on your PS3 before commencing the patching process.

NEW FEATURES

• Furniture Placement Limit
• We have doubled the furniture placement limit in personal spaces and clubhouses from 50 to 100 items.
• Standard and active furniture limits have been merged into the same system. Currently all actives take up 22 furniture slots in the new system. Thus you can now place a variety of different combinations:

• 100 standard furniture items or...
• 78 standard furniture items...
 

Sony Announces PlayStation Home 1.5, Sodium Space and More

183w ago - Sony's PS Home Community Specialist GlassWalls has announced the arrival of PlayStation Home version 1.5 update with the addition of a Sodium Personal Space and an Aurora War Event.

To quote: PlayStation Home will be taken offline this evening for our weekly content publish.

While this downtime will occur approximately 24 hours earlier than what you have become accustomed to per our regular schedule, when the doors are re-opened on the morning of Wednesday, April 20th, you'll find that PlayStation Home will be updated to version 1.5 and will, in turn, be bigger and better than ever before.

PlayStation Home v1.5 was developed with one singular goal in mind: high-quality games. The 1.5 update will introduce a suite of new technology for developers with tools that will provide their future games with real-time multiplayer, improved physics, as well as more realistic graphics and animations.

PlayStation Home v1.5 is packed with tools and features that will enable developers to expand the types of games possible on the platform - from first-person shooters with real-time, peer-to-peer multiplayer to racing games and more.

Also coming with v1.5 are more avatar save slots (24!), new facial building features, better furniture management, various graphical tweaks...
 

PlayStation Home 1.4 Update Arrives: Voice Chat, Groups & More!

206w ago - A few days ago PlayStation Home Client Update version 1.4 was first announced, complete with a changelog and features, and today SCEE's Home Community Lead Alex Weekes has shared some last-minute launch details, as follows:

As we announced last Friday, tomorrow we will be releasing a new version of the PlayStation Home client: 1.4 is here!

In addition to the features already announced - new wardrobe, grouping, and voice chat - there are several other noteworthy improvements and additions.

First amongst those is the new Character Status settings, enabling you to set a status from a variety of new options including Happy, Sad, Busy and more! Even better, many of these status options will adjust your avatars facial expression and idle animations to match.

Other changes coming with 1.4 include improvements to the menu pad and Navigator, which can now be accessed directly by holding down the Start button. With the new cross-game invite support, you can invite your friends to join you in Home more easily than ever before.
