123w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared an EVO 2K update today, with details on both Tekken Hybrid and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue as follows:
I spent the weekend at the EVO Championship Series, a mecca for fighting-game competitors and home to the biggest Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Tekken 6, Mortal Kombat tournaments in the world.
This year, I'm told, EVO attendance spiked sharply to nearly 8,000 attendees – enough to strain the confines of the biggest ballroom in one of Las Vegas's larger resort hotels.
With EVO's popularity soaring in recent years, it's become common to see legendary figures in fighting game design prowling the demo stations, studying player reactions and answering questions.
At EVO I caught up with Katsuhiro Harada, the outgoing game director for Tekken since its inception on the PSone. I particularly wanted to discuss this November's PS3-exclusive Tekken Hybrid, the upcoming Blu-ray compilation that will include CG film Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D, an enhanced version of the seminal PS2 fighter Tekken Tag Tournament, and an appetizer in the form of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue.
191w ago - In this month's PSM3 issue, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has stated that Gran Turismo 5 will be "totally different" to GT5: Prologue on PS3.
Fans have been waiting over two years since Prologue hit PS3 for a full release of GT5 - but Yamauchi has reassured them that the full game's "scale and diversity" is far superior.
To quote: "Prologue is really only a prologue," he told CVG sister mag PSM3 this month.
"Though the look and feel of Prologue and the full version will have uniformity, the full version will be totally different in terms of scale and diversity in comparison."
Yamauchi said earlier this year that GT5 was '90 per cent' complete. His new comments come as part of a eight-page racing preview spectacular in May's PSM3, which also features F12010, Modnation racers, Blur, Split/Second and more.
197w ago - Update: Magnus of NeoGAF has now shared (below) the leaked GT5 trailer from the God of War 3 retail release.
Today Sony Product Marketing Specialist Brian Dunn has proclaimed that Gran Turismo Does NASCAR, and made available a GT5 Prologue PS3 trailer video with Polyphony Digital at the Texas Motor Speedway.
To quote: I'm sure all of you Gran Turismo fans out there remember that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue featured the Daytona oval and road course layouts.
And with Gran Turismo 5's announce trailer at E3 last year, you saw that NASCAR stock cars would be making their debut in Gran Turismo 5, adding yet another official race sanctioning body to the Gran Turismo lineup.
Rest assured that Kazunori Yamauchi and the hard-working team at Polyphony Digital are putting as much attention to detail into recreating the NASCAR stock cars, tracks and experience as they do with every other element that goes into the Gran Turismo series.
In addition to visiting the racing team to photo shoot and sound-record their vehicles, Kazunori and crew visited their first...
263w ago - Over at GTPlanet, Marky264 discovered that you can get some cool Gran Turismo 5: Prologue stuff, including future information about private multiplayer races, via PlayStation Home BETA.
This only applies to folks who received invites to try out the BETA version of PlayStation Home, and it should be noted that these selected individuals need to have or create a Japanese PS3 account.
Once inside the Home BETA area (using Japanese account), you will see the Tokyo Game Show 08 booth become available. Once in there, you can get access to GT5: Prologue racing pods, with some content worthwhile of checking out.
Please note that the actual content doesn't come alive till some time in the future, but just letting you know it's there.
Nice to see fans finding these little details. Keep it up. Here are also some pics of the PlayStation Home GT5 Pod seat and a couple other interesting features.
268w ago - Professional Drift and Rally Driver Tanner Foust has challenged GT5 Prologue gamers to their best lap times in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in the online race event "Tanner Foust Racing Competition." The first place winner and a guest will get to see Tanner at the Red Bull Drifting World Championships in the VIP section.
To quote: Hey, PlayStation Blog readers. Some of you may know who I am. If you do, that's great. If you don't, let me introduce myself. My name is Tanner Foust, and I'm a professional drift, rally, and ice racer. You may have seen me in a recent Play the Pros video on PSN, where I took on some Gran Turismo fans at X Games 14 this past summer before competing in the Rally Super Special race.
You may have even seen me on ESPN2 or the Speed Channel, or seen my work as a stunt driver in the Bourne Ultimatum, Dukes of Hazzard, or The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Hot on the heels of my 2nd place finish at the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship finals earlier this month and clinching the 2008 Formula Drift Championship, I'm gearing up to represent the US against the best drifters in the world at Red Bull Drifting World Championships on November 15-16. I'll be competing with 31 of the...
