Video: PS4 Music Player App Revealed by Shuhei Yoshida's PSN Profile

100°
14w ago - Following the rumors that MP3 playback is coming soon to the PlayStation 4, today what may be a Sony PS4 Music Player application was revealed by Shuhei Yoshida's PSN Profile!

To quote: There have been rumors of MP3 playback support coming to the PS4 with a future update, and something found by one of our readers that snooped on Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida's PSN profile definitely seems to add solidity to those rumors:

Apparently Yoshida-san ran a "Music Player Demo" app yesterday, and it left very visible tracks on his PSN profile, as you can see in the pictures at the bottom of the post:

Of course we don't have clear information on what the "Music Player" entails, or if it'll really play MP3 files, but now we know that it exists, and it's being tested internally at Sony Computer Entertainment.

It's worth mentioning that normally this kind of unannounced app is kept hidden from profiles, but apparently someone forgot to flip that switch.

We'll have to stand by and see if the app will be announced any time soon, or if it'll make it in the upcoming 1.7 firmware update.

Rumor: Sony Close to Acquiring High-Profile Cloud Gaming Firm

800°
113w ago - Following up on our previous article, today MCVUK (linked above) reports that according to their sources Sony is indeed close to acquiring a high-profile cloud gaming firm.

To quote: "In a move that will rock the next generation of console gaming, Sony is close to agreeing an acquisition of a high profile cloud gaming firm, MCV understands.

It was reported earlier this week that Sony was to reveal a partnership with a cloud gaming firm - specifically either OnLive or Gaikai - at E3 next week.

Subsequent chatter had seemingly calmed the rumours, suggesting that the proposed agreement was to do with Sony streaming TV services, and not consoles.

However, MCV understands that the deal is far more extensive than anyone could have predicted and will see Sony fully acquire one of the two firms. The deal, our source says, "is close to being signed".

The acquisition has implications for all parts of Sony's business, both in the consumer tech and console divisions.

Although work on PS4 is already well underway, Sony is very likely keen on bringing its PlayStation gaming content to non-console owners - a move finally made possible...

240w ago - Today ScrawlFX ran across a [Register or Login to view links] for Red Seeds Profile by Marvelous Interactive, who currently lists it as hitting the PS3 and XBox 360 in Japan on March 11, 2010.

To quote: Marvelous Interactive is teasing a brand new PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game today; Red Seeds Profile can be seen on a new teaser page with a release date, price, and little information.

Due for a March 11, 2010 release in Japan, Red Seeds Profile's only information can be found in it's page meta (we can't read Japanese from flash), which reads: "Abnormalities at midnight does not end the nightmare of this town."

While we're not sure exactly what this is, it may just be the Japanese version of Deadly Premonition, announced for Xbox 360 earlier this year.
